Grimes Adoption of a Hungarian Child
Spende geschützt
Defend the weak and the
fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them
from the hand of the wicked. Psalm
82:3-4 NIV
Friends, Loved Ones, and Supporters,
God has called us to show His love to an orphaned child. We are working with the wonderful staff of Little Miracles International Adoption in Amarillo, TX, who introduced us to the Hungary adoption program. We have completed all the required training, and have been approved during our home study. Our completed dossier has been submitted, and we are currently awaiting a referral.
For those who don't know us, my wife and I have been married for 16 years now. We have two loving and well-behaved boys. Last year while I was on Active Duty at Fort Sill, OK, I began teaching Bible Study for children of various ages at Carriage Hills Christian Church in Lawton, OK. God used this opportunity to open my eyes to the needs of children from troubled homes. That is how He called my family and me to adopt a child.
We have never been to Hungary. We do not know anything about the child we are trying to adopt yet. Ninety percent of the Hungarian children available for international adoption are boys. Almost all are ethnically Roma (Gypsy). Due to Hungarian international adoption policies, the child will likely be from 3-5 years. He may have minor medical problems.
Our process will include a 45-day trip for my wife and me to travel to Hungary to meet the child, work out details, and work through the Hungarian Ministry. In addition to travel and lodging fees, there will be administrative fees to be paid in Hungary. After we return to America, our agency recommends an additional 45 days of staying at home to bond with the child and help him overcome culture shock and language barriers. As you can imagine, this process will be very expensive.
We fully expect this adventure to be difficult, tiring, worthwhile, and wonderful. We do not know what God intends to accomplish through His adoption, but we trust Him to use it for good and to build His kingdom and provide for this child in every way.
Thank you for your consideration, and for helping us bring a child into a forever family!
