We are parents and families from the local community of Watford.
We are on facebook SWAP (Save Watford Adventure Playgrounds)
We are raising money to keep the two supervised adventure playgrounds open. We have started legal action and need your help to pay towards the court costs. The adventure playgrounds have been running for nearly 40 years, and provide the comminuty with vital serices for children, familes and the vunelable, in some of our most deprived areas of the town. Their dedicated staff have provided learning, support and good old fashioned fun to us when we were young, to our parents when they were and now, our children.
WATFORD COUNCIL WANT TO TEAR THEM DOWN, REMOVE THE STAFF & REPLACE WITH STERILE, GENERIC, LOW MAINTENANCE PLAYGROUNDS.
All in the name of austerity.
All that free and crucial mentoring, teaching and support for our kids will no longer exist.
Want to build a treehouse or den? Sorry no.
Want to talk about a problem at home or at school with a trusted adult in a friendly setting? Sorry no.
Want to let your kids experience life outside a computer screen in a safe, supervised environment. Sorry no.
IN THIS EVER DIGITISED AGE WHERE IT CAN BE A DAILY STRUGGLE TO GET OUR KIDS AWAY FROM A SCREEN, WHY TAKE AWAY SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY IN SHORT SUPPLY???!!!
