As a former active duty marine and full time chef/foodrevolutionist .... I am trying to raise funds to send myself and my partner to the Standing Rock reservation in ND to help support the camp. As a former active duty marine we were taught to protect and serve the innocent against any ill will and action. That is what it is to truly live and truly serve. And now we are being asked to protect and serve our indigenous people whom we have already cheated. Now we are being asked to protect the water for our children and our grandchildren. What stories will they tell of their ancestors? We are their ancestors and it is our duty to leave this earth livable for them. This is our second trip to Standing Rock. We are simple people living paycheck to paycheck. We are happy to go do the work but we need the support. Now is the time. It's winter and they expect that to stop us. It won't. Summer may be too late.
