Mrs. Fran & Mrs. Laverne work at the Wendy's in Maple Grove, MN and have for years. (Mrs. Laverne is not pictured her but I will add a photo as soon as I can get one of her.) Both ladies are 88 years young. I love seeing their happy faces when I bop in to get one of their amazing salads. I will be honest. I do not know if they work because they like to keep busy (it seems if this were the case they could get a job that is less physically demanding) or if the more likely scenario, social security & Medicare does not cover their living expenses. In the United States when you are 88 years old you should not have to work yet these two ladies are there every day and out work most teenagers who do the same job.

I should have done this for them a long time ago but it took something that happened to Mrs. Fran today 9/1/16 with the couple who was in line in front of me for me to know I needed to take action.

While waiting in line the couple in front of me ordered three frosty's. Two medium vanilla & one small chocolate. Mrs. Fran did her best to hear them but asked the couple to repeat themselves a few times and therefore repeated the order back to them incorrectly a couple of times before she got it right; they both got snippy with her, rolling their eyes and taking multiple big sighs just to make sure Mrs. Fran would know how irritated they were with her service. They again got rude with her when Mrs. Fran told them that they do not have M & M's or any other toppings (Dairy Queen is right across the street). By the time they left (no thank you of course) you could see by Mrs. Fran's body language she felt embarrassed/irritated and a bit defeated. So when it was my turn I did the best I could to show her the respect she deserves; smiling, saying please and thank you & yes Ma'am (what we teach our kids to say to our elders from the time they are two years old. I tried to lift her spirits best I could durning our brief interaction and I went to sit down when it hit me and hit me hard what the Universe wanted me to do for them for all these years.

If this middle-aged couple thought it was OK to treat Mrs. Fran they way they did how must other people be treating Mrs. Laverne & Mrs Fran badly on a daily basis? My guess is sadly, many.

We live in a country where our elderly population have to work later and later in life, that is a sad fact. I say that it is our job as a society to take better care of them all. So until the laws/government catches up to what we should all be doing I say we all step up in any way we can. This is one of the ways I want to step up and am asking for your help.

My first hope is this: I would like to raise money for Mrs. Laverne & Mrs. Fran to give them a fun day or weekend at a spa. If we surpas this goal I would like to give them a fun holiday somewhere relaxing and beautiful. I say we can do even better then that. If we can raise even more money then that maybe these beautiful women could take some time off or work less if we could help them with some of their bills or living expenses.

My grandmothers have both passed but if they were with us I would be heart broken to think they would still be working this hard at 88 years old. Let's work together and help these beautiful women enjoy a spa day or better yet help them both live a more gentle life. They have worked hard long enough. We owe it to them for all their years of hard work. There is just the two of them but maybe this will also inspire others to take notice , step up and help our growing senior population. Any amount will help.

Thank you for your time.

Hi All! Sorry it has been so long. I was swamped with the holidays (my five kids and working a ton) and my parent's home (they recently passed) is being sold this Friday... to say the least it has been crazy but I am sorry for the delay.

I crunched all the numbers and took a look at exactly what came in after the initial checks were distributed and there is still a bit left to give:) After GFM and We Pay took their part (which does not appear on the amount shown) for providing the service they do they will each be getting about another $100 (a little gift to start the year). Thank you again to all who contributed.

The gals were given thier checks today! They received $2,000 each and will get whatever comes in between now and Christmas for the holidays before I close the fund. I also gave them gift boxes and their gift cards to The Hair District.

Thank you to everyone who gave and shared!! You all made a difference.

Side note ~ Laverne told me, "People just don't give or help for no reason. You (we ) are the exception." I plan on and would like to challenge you all to prove her wrong as often as possible for the rest of all our lives.

Don't just think about helping and do not pause. Help and give as often as you can. Pay attention or you will miss out on opportunities. The world needs it now more then ever and everyone of us can make a difference.

Hello everyone!

I have set up a withdrawal of he account funds. I should be getting them at the latest 10/4 and will give our gals their money at that point. Our gals have had some health set backs and car troubles in the last couple weeks so they need our help now. I will leave the account active at least through Christmas for those who still want to contribute.

This week I will be also making them gift baskets since it is looking like they will both need the money for functional reasons. I will be gathering items that will treat them to some pampering like hair, nail, tub items to help make them feel as beautiful as they are! If you would like to contribute an item please feel free to send it to my home:

342 W. Eagle Lake Dr. Maple Grove, MN 55369

Also, my friend Melissa Funk who owns The Hair District in Maple Grove has made a generous donation to the gals so they can get their hair done at her salon. Please feel free to add to this donation or thank Melissa and all the stylists at The Hair District.

Thank you all for your support by donating, sharing or just sending love and positive thoughts.

Lastly, If you have ever thought of randomly helping someone in need I highly recommend you do it. Don't think about it, do it. Big or small. In all my experiences I have found it to be a time when you get back the same amount of love that you give.

❤️ Pay it forward. ❤️

That is so wonderful and kind to think of these beautiful ladies (I don't know them). They deserve this! NOONE should be working at 88yrs old! That's a disgrace! This country makes me ashamed in times like this! I will certainly help as soon as I can! Thank you so much for so kind hearted and thoughtful.
