The Phoenix Emporium in Ellicott City was devasted by Saturday's historic flood. I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community. We will rebuild and we will reopen.

The Phoenix's success has always been a direct result of the incredible employees who have become our family. Despite the unimaginable terror they went through Saturday night, they safely returned 28 of our customers home to their families.

My employees need your help. Our flood insurance does not cover business interruption or employee wages. Ellicott City will remain closed for an extended period of time. We are trying to locate employment for our staff.

They need help with living expenses, rent, car payments, etc. It is our hope that by creating a fund for them, they will be able to return to work with us when we a finally able to do so.

100% of your donations will go DIRECTLY to our employees. Any amounts left over will be donated to others needing assistance in Ellicott City.

Thank you for any amount you can give.

As many of you already know, the Phoenix was broken into on Tuesday night. Thieves stole computers, televisions, equipment, and tools. We are still trying to get an inventory of all that was taken.

The response from the Howard County Police and the outpouring of support from our community has been amazing. Although this setback may delay our reopening, we will recover. We have a fantastic team in place to finish our construction and a staff eager to get back to work.

We will be following up on multiple offers of loaned tools and labor over the next several days. Any funds donated to this site will go to replacing items lost and to finishing our rebuild until we REOPEN.

We thank you again for all of your support. We are simply overwhelmed by the strength in this community.

Thank you all for your tremendous support. We are starting to write checks TODAY for our employees to cover some of their expenses. Your support is paying for health insurance, housing payments, the support of 2 rescue horses, and many other bills as our employees find other jobs.

We have made tremendous progress in cleaning out the Phoenix. The first floor and basement are nearly free of mud. All equipment, furniture, supplies, food & beverage are gone. But we will rebuild.

Your support has enabled our employees to start the process of moving forward. For that, I am eternally grateful.

I have to wait until Thursday for payday, but I've subscribed so I can keep touch with this page. My husband and I love the Phoenix and we're so sorry for the horror and the devastation. Prayers are being sent to all of you.

I am not a patron, but my son and daughter-in-law are, and I know they helped you with a day of cleanup. I was sickened to hear of the robbery. Stay strong!
