Alexandra Bea's #NoDAPL Support

I would like to tell you all about my baby sister, Alexandra Bea.
Alexandra Bea, known to family and friends as Bea or Tia (for "aunt"), is a force to be reckoned with: a bad-ass, outspoken, radical feminist, educator, and environmental warrior, who believes passionately in connecting with community, her roots, and the earth and who draws on the strengths of our family's black and Native American heritage to tackle the injustices of the world, to fight the systems that are disempowering marginalized groups in our society. Her work specifically has focused on women, people of color and the working class. She has been a leader in designing and developing programs that give these groups a voice and help to reconnect them with the natural world to build strength, independence and self-worth.
She is a water quality researcher and focuses on anti-oppression work within environmental justice, and anti-racist movements.
Now she is on her way to join the water protection efforts going on for the travesty that is the Dakota Access Pipeline. She will be bringing a truckload of supplies as well as her passion, talents, and work ethic with her and while there she will be using her unique skill set to assist with the school and the women's group that are a vital part of these efforts.
She leaves on Saturday, September 17th and will be gone for 2-6 weeks, depending on what her work and money situations look like.
Of the $8,000, $1,000 will go towards getting her out there, and eventually back. $2,000 will be emergency funds (vehicle issues, gas, etc.), and the rest will go towards supplies to support the protectors who have been on the front line, fighting for Mother Earth.
Always one to go where she's needed, when she is needed, for the betterment of the environment and the quality of life for those less fortunate, Bea is once again stepping up to the plate to do what is right, for all our futures, and our family could not be more proud of her.
Your support means the world to her and to us. From the bottom of all our hearts, we thank you.
