Sandy - Bernie Delegate to Philly!

Sandy Watters is a 21-year-old Latina from southwest Minnesota. In late April, she was elected as a delegate for Bernie Sanders to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though elected by a group of their peers in the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party, the party does not supply elected delegates with any related expenses--despite the immense importance of their role. This unique opportunity is often unattainable for average and low-income participants, due to the sheer cost. It is Sandy's hope to achieve this goal by reaching out to every-day members of the party--like her--to bring the voice of the average voter to the convention.

The convention runs July 25th-28th, with arrival required on July 24th. Costs include: airfare, travel within the city, lodging, food, convention and training fees, and events at the convention itself. To put the cost in perspective, the hotel itself is projected to be $350/night, for 5 nights. To reach the goal of attending the convention, Sandy should realistically raise about $4,000. Ideally, at least $2,500 should be raised by June 20th to begin making travel arrangements.

The task may seem daunting, but by coming together in support of young voters, it is achievable. One of the best ways to ensure the party moves forward is to encourage and aid the next generation!
