The screening will be preceded by an artist talk in the theatre at 2pm.
Clinch is a unique short film set in the world of women's professional boxing. We are seeking donations to cover submission fees to upcoming international film festivals. We want to get the film to as many festivals as possible! This requires about $60 per submission.
Clinch Premiered at the Richard Harris International Film Festival in Limerick, Ireland in November.
Clinch features an original Score composed by Dalton d10 Tennant (grammy award-winner and Drake's Producer and Touring Musical Director) and was filmed on location in Toronto and at the Cabbagetown Boxing Club. The same gym in which the boxing scenes from Cinderella Man and The Hurricane where choreographed.
The story follows the rise and fall of a love story between two professional female boxers. Shifting back and forth chronologically, we absorb the relationship between lightweight champion Rudy and the challenger Shawna. It can be said that Clinch is a current, female response to the classic boxing film Raging Bull. Indeed boxing films have been around for a long time but none have captured the intensity of women in combat sports.

The world of female boxing is often unrecognized in comparison to male boxing. Professional female boxers strive for excellence as do their male counterparts but have fewer opportunities to compete. They must maintain their athleticism and constant dedication to excellence to stay competitive. Clinch draws focus to this lesser known culture and the passion behind these athletes.
