Tanner's Eagle Scout HHS Platform

Donation protected
I am Tanner Elliott, a Life Scout with Troop 32 out of Loves Park, Ill. I am working towards the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. One of the requirements to earn the rank of Eagle Scout is to create a project that will help benefit my community.

I have developed a project for completion at Harlem High School, in Machesney Park, Ill. My approved project is to build a handicap accessible ramp and platform overlooking the football field, adjacent to the existing bleachers, at the high school. There’s currently no convenient or accessible way for students or individuals with special needs to watch events from the stadium seating. This became evident to me when I noticed fellow students who only had a space alongside of the track to watch the game that was taking place. They struggled to see the game or activity on the field and were separated from the rest of their classmates. It bothered me that some of my classmates were unable to share in the excitement and fun of activities at the stadium in the same way that I can.

In order for my Eagle Scout project to proceed, I will be working hard to raise the majority of the projected $35,000 needed for construction. My goal is to have enough funds raised to complete construction in the spring of 2017.
