1919 is raising money to pay for a plumbing extension and AC work . These projects are required by the city. We need the money by July at the latest.
Our plumbing Labor should cost 6,325
Our HVAC labor and supplies cost 2500
So let's say we need 8825 at least.
Our Mission
1919 Hemphill is a safe community artspace and activist center ran by a small volunteer collective.
Since opening back in 2002, 1919 has changed, while never forgetting
its roots as a nonprofit ground up Community space. With is community garden, skate ramps, free store and open, accessible event calendar 1919 has served as vehicle for radical, positive change in the north texas metroplex. However, 1919 is mostly known for it's DIY music venue (Do
it yourself) where many legendary punk and hardcore artists got their start. all events have been donation based, and no one has been unable to enter due to lack of funds. its only rules are simple, No booze, No Drugs, No Jerks, but they have had a lasting and massive impact on the dfw arts based community for 15 years.
1919 is also planning on expanding its mutual aid to provide resources for
mental health counselling, and hopes to work alongside local organizations in the near future that provide shelter and food to the community. Additionally the 1919 collective is interested in upgrading its facilities to include a proper library, and public meeting facilities reservable by anyone despite lack of funds, language or background.
With our Patreon we hope to raise around $2,000 a month to help pay our monthly bills, save towards a rainy day fund, and improve the building in the future.
Since 1919 has no paid staff members, all donations will go directly towards the building.
