Our Treatment For Vaginismus

Donation protected
This campaign is to raise funds for our upcoming trip to the Women's Therapy Center to help treat Mallory's vaginismus.

Please scroll down for details regarding our story and plans to pursue healing.

Before I share our story and struggle, I want to say we are so grateful for our Faith in Jesus Christ and His steadiness through this journey. It is only by His love and Grace we have been able to lean into each other during this time.
It is with humble hearts we share this, in hopes that it will shed light on this condition, and ultimately point others back to the Gospel.

The Back Story

Patrick and I met in high school and became best friends. After a few years of dating and walking many seasons together, Patrick asked me to marry him. With a grateful and joyous heart, I said yes.
As the wedding approached, sex became a more open topic between us. Having both saved ourselves for marriage, there was anxiety mixed with pure excitement to finally become one.

Unfortunately, on our wedding night, we were unable to have sex. After multiple, incredibly painful, failed, attempts we knew something was wrong.

I visited my OBGYN once returning from our honeymoon and was told I have vaginismus. Vagi - what??

Vaginismus is a rare condition involving a muscle spasm in the pelvic floor muscles. It can make sex difficult, or impossible, and excruciatingly painful.

Because of this condition, we have been unable to have sexual intercourse.

As you can imagine this has affected our marriage on every level, as sex is not just a physical act but a spiritual connection between spouses. We have been faced with many issues stemming from vaginismus. Our ability to have children being just one of them.

Treatment

After months of searching for answers in a  medical world that doesn't have much information on vaginismus, we were incredibly discouraged. I had tried multiple types of therapy with no success and in some cases actually made things worse.

After google searching "vaginismus" one day, I came upon the Women's Therapy Center in NY. The center treats women with this condition from all over the world with a very high success rate for their 2 week treatment program.

With humble and prayerful hearts we have decided to attend the treatment center in early June.

We are excited, nervous, and so grateful for this opportunity.

How To Help

As you can imagine, the center is quite expensive, not including travel or accommodations. Fortunately, our insurance is covering a large percentage of the cost.

The funds we are raising are the remaining costs we need to go to the Women's Therapy Center for vaginismus treatment.

We ask you with humble hearts to consider giving to our healing journey. If not financially, we are in need of prayer.

Please pray for peace and wisdom, for unity and selflessness in our marriage, and that ultimately God would be glorified through our story.

Sharing Our Story

Please be sensitive when sharing about this topic, as many women that have this have not told anyone and it can be a very hard thing to discuss.
We ourselves are still processing this journey. The emotional, spiritual, and physical sides of this have effected our marriage on a daily basis.

Vaginismus is not talked about often, if at all, and we want to change that.
Please feel free to share our story with anyone who has suffered or may be suffering. They are not alone in this battle. They are loved, valued, and fearfully and wonderfully made.

I recently shared about our journey on a friend's podcast -link below. (Episode 1 - Mallory Jo Zynda)

We Are Grateful!

We would not change our story.
As incredibly hard as this has been, God has knit us closer with friends, family, and each other. We have learned how to selflessly love. How to hold space for the hardships that life has, and how to find joy in all things. God is faithful and good and no matter the outcome of this journey, we know that He is working all things together for His glory.

THANK YOU for reading our story and for partnering with us as we journey towards healing.
