Zoey Strong

https://www.seacoastonline.com/news/20190114/dog-recovering-as-shooting-is-investigated On January 9th, Zoey , my parents chocolate lab was let out by her mother to go to the bathroom.  Approximately 30 minutes later she returned bleeding profusely from her face.  It was later discovered via X-ray that she had been shot in the mouth with a shotgun.

Zoey cannot tell us what happened, how excruciatingly difficult it was, or how determined she was to get home.  Her heroic tale can only be horribly imagined by the bloody trail left behind in the snow. Her blood-splattered tracks with occasional wide-dark pools of blood, where she collapsed to gather more strength, is her tale.

Miraculously, Zoey has more tales to tell  and trails to leave behind.  She has survived.  Her prognosis is fairly good, but she has a long road ahead.  The hospital  is working very hard to save her tongue. She is on a feeding tube during this process and adjusting well.  The process will be slow and arduous.  The outpouring of love and support from near and far has been heart-warming.  So many people have asked if they could make a donation.  My parents were reluctant, but with the massive costs a realization that help from those who want to give it will be good for everyone.  If you would like to help any donation will be greatly appreciated.  We have friends working behind the scene cutting, sewing and quickly getting to the screen printer purple bandannas as a tribute not only to brave Zoey, but to those who care deeply for man's best-friend, and to raise awareness against animal cruelty. Once Zoey's hospital bills have been paid any remaining funds will be donated equally to Cochecho Valley Humane Society and NHSPCA.

I want to thank the Eliot Police Department for their diligence and compassion.  York Animal Hospital for getting Zoey triaged with caring calm, and for Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital for saving Zoey's life,  making sure she will have a good life ahead.

Lastly, thank you to all who love and care for animals as  much as they love and care for us.

Don't forget to give your mailing address for Zoey bandanna.
