If you've ever met Rich, you know he is energetic, genuine and incredibly humble. You'll also know how dedicated he is to his wife Gina and three kids, friends and wrestling community.  Always the first to step up for anyone in need, he's headlined camps as fundraisers for youth wrestlers going through medical battles and has helped coach at many youth clubs such as, Beat the Streets Philadelphia, Malvern and LAW among countless others.

Rich is ranked number 2 in the country at 86 kg. He is currently a full time athlete with the Pennsylvania regional training center.

Last night, Rich suffered a terrible accident. He was at the national team training camp in San Diego. His eye was impaled causing brain trauma. He is in the fight for his life right now. He was medevaced to one of the top Neurological hospitals in California.

Currently, the doctors have to wait for the swelling to go down before they can perform surgery. Even after surgery there will be many hurdles to overcome. He will have to remain in California for at least 3-6 months for recovery and rehab. His wife Gina was on the first plane from Pennsylvania to be by his side.

During this trying time the Perry family will need our help financially and spiritually. Rich is a family man first and a full time athlete second. Obviously he will not be able to work while recovering.

Right now Gina is staying in San Diego with their newborn baby, Zeke while the older kids, Maya and Beau, remain in Pennsylvania with their grandparents.

The Perry family will need help with the expenses from traveling, time off from work that both Rich and Gina will have to take, as well as day to day life expenses.

This is a life changing event. Rich and Gina are so strong, but we shouldn't let them go through this alone. Please help in any way you can.

Thank you.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, life is so busy with the kids in full swing, trying to get the house ready for Rich to come home, birthdays and daily visits to the rehabilitation center in Philadelphia! Oh, you read that correctly PRAISE GOD not even three months after the incident, and ONLY by the GRACE of GOD and His miracle is Ri Ch Perry COMING HOME!!!!!!

We are so incredibly excited that Rich will be released this Friday ❤️ Remember when they said 6-9 months in the hospital and then a rehabilitation center after that?! Oh my Lord you are so so amazing! God continues to move the mountains for us as we all continue to lift Rich up in prayer.

This past week Rich made me dinner on his own (standing for over an hour—don’t worry, I would never make him do this, it was one of his therapy exercises lol)! His speech has improved greatly, and he is able to walk with MINIMAL assistance, if any. Rich was given a brace to help with the catching of his left foot (he does NOT have drop foot ), and as of Friday, he is able to lift his left arm above his head without any pain! Guys, it’s just so crazy when you look at what he was expected to do, the life he was expected to have post injury, and then the timeline of it all. I mean, not even THREE full months has passed, he has only had 6 weeks of PT, OT & ST, but a TON of prayer, faith and Jesus!!!! When the doctors tell you it’s a miracle, and that’s how they all describe this, a miracle, it’s truly just incredible.

There is no word on the excess fluids in the brain yet, but Rich has not shown any signs or symptoms to cause worry or raise concern. Rich’s therapists and nurses are taking such great care of him and have been such a Godsend; We are so thankful for each of them ❤️

We ask that you continue to pray for Rich and his recovery, we know coming home is the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next, but we have a long road ahead of us. Rich is fighting every day to make major strides both mentally and physically. He talks often about how grateful he is for all of you, your prayers and your words of encouragement. This trial has brought so many new friendships and for that, we are so grateful! You have no idea how each story of your faith, each prayer, each word, made it that much easier to get through the hard days!

Our family is so excited to see what God has in store for the future ❤️ (sidenote: my goodness how grateful I am that we get to say those words all together—a future for my family!) thank you! Thank you for supporting our family and lifting us up in prayer while allowing us to focus on Rich and his recovery—My words will never be enough, but I hope you all truly know how grateful we will forever be.

Prayers needed! Yesterday we met with Rich’s neurologist to go over the results from his most recent CT scan in comparison to one taken a few weeks prior. The results were exactly what we expected, a miracle! God is so incredible and has truly answered every need, and I believe He will continue to do so.

I am asking that all of our prayer warriors continue to pray. With all of the progress Rich has made in just about a month, it’s hard to believe there is still potential danger, but unfortunately there is (according to medicine, not to our God). There seems to be excess fluid still lingering in Rich’s brain. At the moment, this isn’t causing any additional complications, but does raise some concerns and means we are not in the clear just yet. If the fluid is not absorbed, certain measures will have to be taken to remove the fluid. I won’t address those, because I am still believing for Rich’s complete healing and restoration in the name of Jesus! God didn’t not bring him this far to stop now.

While the fight continues, so do our praises, and those will NEVER cease! Lord I ask that you remove the excess fluid in Rich’s brain and restore his strength, his speech and his cognitive abilities to exceed that of which they were prior to the incident. We are trusting and believing in you for a mighty and miraculous healing, while experiencing your grace and mercy ❤️ by your blood, we declare and decree a divine intervention, a powerful healing in Richard throughout his entire body, for he is YOUR child Lord, yours alone, and you are almighty, you are so incredibly faithful ❤️ we praise your holy name, the king of kings, Jehovah, our messiah, redeemer, Jesus Christ amen!

Exactly two months ago today, I received a phone call that would forever change our lives.

I can close my eyes and relive almost every single moment of the day leading up to that phone call, to the confusion, to the waiting, to the fear. It was Mya’s first day of the first grade, we were rushing most of the day and I still kick myself for not charging my phone, for missing your FaceTime call just an hour before the incident. I know it wouldn’t have changed anything, but I wish I would have been able to let Beau talk to you one last time before a month of silence.

Here we are two months later. I’ve replayed my conversation with the Neurology & Trauma team from the moment we arrived to the hospital, over and over again. I keep seeing the MRI & CT scans in my head on repeat—trying to process what it meant and just praying to God for His Grace and peace to wash over us all.

I’ve come to realize that throughout this journey, I’ve unknowingly almost belittled the miracles done—I need to fix this. The neurologists and trauma team were not wrong in thinking Rich would not make it, or ever talk again or walk again. They used the evidence they could gather given the tests, the imaging, and Rich’s overall appearance and health post incident. When they told me his chances were slim, that’s not due to pessimism, but rather it was a reflection of the medical evidence they were shown. Nothing suggested Rich would one day walk, nothing suggested he would again talk and absolutely NOTHING showed any chance of a complete recovery.

BUT GOD!!!!! God alone was all he needed. God alone did this. Healed him. Continues to heal him, restores him and lifts Rich up. It is not that the doctors were wrong, it is just that they didn’t realize they were looking at the beginnings of a miracle.

Oh, sometimes I cry (tears of joy) just thinking about how far God has brought us and how much He has restored in my husband, the lives He has used this testimony to touch and change.

Rich is continuing to make major strides as he works towards strengthening his left side, improving his memory and improving his speech which is seriously coming along incredibly! It is amazing how strong he is and how hard he works every single day ❤️

I am so very grateful for all of the prayers, love and support we continue to receive from friends, family and even complete strangers. I ask that you all continue to pray for Rich’s strength to be restored and also his memory to be repaired. God is so good and I know there is purpose in every trial, we are trusting Him and His timing while believing in a COMPLETE healing & restoration ❤️ #overcomer #teamperry #perrystrong

Update: Praise God! Honestly, you may not believe this update but I NEED to share it anyways.

A few moments ago, after an incredible day yesterday, I received a phone call from the rehabilitation facility that Rich would not wake up; his vitals were normal but they tried everything to wake him up and he would not—sternum rub, ice, slapping his face, everything for some time. They called me hoping that my voice would wake him up, but it didn’t. Even Beau yelled on the phone, “Wake up Daddy we are coming to see you today!” But nothing happened.

As my parents started praying, and while still on the phone, I prayed out loud and told Rich he had to say “amen,” I declared and decreed in the name and by the blood of the Lord that he would be renewed and strengthened that he would wake up and OH MY GOODNESS, our INCREDIBLE GOD did it again! He woke up! He said amen, except I couldn’t hear him because the entire staff in Rich’s room screamed in excitement! Literally in seconds he was awoken and renewed. Our God is SO amazing!!!

I believe someone in that room needed to witness God’s power, the power in God’s name and the power of prayer! My heart dropped but for a moment to receive a call, but I was quickly reminded that God is ALWAYS in control and ALWAYS working.

Praising God extra hard today! Thanking Him for each moment and for using this battle to show others His faithfulness as we give our Lord ALL the Glory ❤️ Praise be to God!
