If you've ever met Rich, you know he is energetic, genuine and incredibly humble. You'll also know how dedicated he is to his wife Gina and three kids, friends and wrestling community.  Always the first to step up for anyone in need, he's headlined camps as fundraisers for youth wrestlers going through medical battles and has helped coach at many youth clubs such as, Beat the Streets Philadelphia, Malvern and LAW among countless others.

Rich is ranked number 2 in the country at 86 kg. He is currently a full time athlete with the Pennsylvania regional training center.

Last night, Rich suffered a terrible accident. He was at the national team training camp in San Diego. His eye was impaled causing brain trauma. He is in the fight for his life right now. He was medevaced to one of the top Neurological hospitals in California.

Currently, the doctors have to wait for the swelling to go down before they can perform surgery. Even after surgery there will be many hurdles to overcome. He will have to remain in California for at least 3-6 months for recovery and rehab. His wife Gina was on the first plane from Pennsylvania to be by his side.

During this trying time the Perry family will need our help financially and spiritually. Rich is a family man first and a full time athlete second. Obviously he will not be able to work while recovering.

Right now Gina is staying in San Diego with their newborn baby, Zeke while the older kids, Maya and Beau, remain in Pennsylvania with their grandparents.

The Perry family will need help with the expenses from traveling, time off from work that both Rich and Gina will have to take, as well as day to day life expenses.

This is a life changing event. Rich and Gina are so strong, but we shouldn't let them go through this alone. Please help in any way you can.

Thank you.

Update: The last five months have both come and gone so quickly, yet, felt like a lifetime all at once. It’s hard to imagine where Rich began in his journey to recovery just 4 months ago as we entered Rittenhouse. We both know without a doubt, God has His mighty hand around our family, as He continues to move mountains and answer our prayers. God is so incredibly faithful; watching first hand all of the miracles come together and seeing Him meet us right where we are, it’s truly a blessing.

Every time I look at Rich or our children, I give God praise, and still, that is not enough, it will never be enough. No amount of praise or worship will ever be enough to properly show the amount of gratitude I have for all of the mountains both moved, and not yet moved.

As Rich continues to work hard to get back to the wrestling mat, he is also continuing to make strides to get back to the father, the husband he was before the incident. Recently he was able to help shovel snow and he did so with Beau, which made his day! He now plays with the kids more too—living room dance parties and race car games are happening more frequently again! Another big change in the recent days, Rich and I can actually have smaIl talk again lt’s the simple things in life we’ve learned to no longer take for granted, but instead count as a blessing. As his conversation skills are improving, his memory is too, and it’s probably better than mine right now. God is so so good!

We are very grateful for the continued prayers, the love and the support you all so gracefully give. We’ve truly enjoyed being able to meet some of you at tournaments and while we are out and about, it’s changing our lives the way you all share your testimonies, your walks of faith, with us! It reminds us that there is so much purpose to be found even through all the struggle. God is using you just as much as He is using us, that I can promise you! The process is not over yet, there are still many more mountains to be moved, but I know, we know, our God can do it! In His perfect time Rich will have his COMPLETE healing both mentally and physically! I know He will deliver because He is faithful + just Lord your will be done.

See Facebook or Instagram for Video: This was taken yesterday during PT. It was his second attempt at a forward roll. His first attempt was probably better and met with a HUGE smile, but I was too nervous to film it as I was covering my eyes & having a heart attack ‍♀️. #overcomer #perrystrong

Today Rich will travel with his Coach and friend, Brandon Slay to meet his other PRTC teammates at the OTC in Colorado Springs for a National Team camp. Anyone else’s mind just absolutely blown at how quickly God is working?! ‍♀️ I know, me too!!! While he won’t train with the guys, he will do what he is able to do and continue PT.

When Brandon suggest Rich go on this trip, we were all sitting at a table celebrating Rich’s birthday in the hospital and I wasn’t sure if he was serious. I honestly was unsure then, if Rich would be able to travel come January and if he would be up for it—what was I thinking?! God’s timeline is just blowing my mind. Here we are 4 1/2 months post incident, 1 1/2 months since his release from the hospital and Rich continues to get stronger mentally and physically, beating all odds stacked against him and defying modern day medicine—all glory to God who has gifted us with an amazing miracle!! I literally cannot contain His praises; seeing Him at work in our lives, through others—your words, messages, calls, it’s just an incredible blessing!

While we still have a long road ahead of us, we are certainly thankful for each and every day, each and every step, all of the small victories and milestones just as much as the major ones.

God continues to amaze us even in the midst of our daily routines, as Rich is now able to do things he did prior to the incident, like carry the kids—they missed having him pick them up and throw them onto furniture despite my failed attempts to stop them from doing so, or having living room dance parties with the kids on a Friday night. He’s even able to do things he didn’t love doing before, like help me carry up the laundry, take out the trash and bring in groceries; it’s the capability to complete these small tasks, these things most people dread, that we’ve come to be grateful for when I tell you God is good, I truly mean it, He is good ALL the time.

Please continue to keep Rich in your prayers as God continues to move mountains! I ask that you also say a prayer for safe travels and for the kids. I’m not sure how this week will go considering it’s the first time Rich will leave since returning home from the hospital.

2018 was definitely a year of unexpected change, along with that change came some incredible blessings.

In February The PRTC traveled to Kiev where Rich took second. In March, Mya overcame her fear of the stage as she performed in her first school play. Also in March, our family of four grew to a complete family of five as we welcomed our third child, and second son, Ezekiel. While Mya was hoping for a little sister, I’m sure she wouldn’t trade her baby Zeke for the world.

In May, Rich finished second at the World team trials, which was his best finish to date. In early June, Rich officially made his first National Team when he beat Pat Downey at Final X to take true third, while our kindergartener, Mya, lost her two front teeth and officially, an unofficial ballerina as she performed in her first dance recital.

In July, we spent a lot of time together enjoying our family and finding a new unexpected favorite vacation place in CT. We also spent a lot of time house hunting, but to no avail, did not find our home.

In August our sunshine started first grade and on that same day our entire world was shaken and turned upside down. Forget fighting for a place on the National Team, Rich was left fighting for his life as I fought to keep our family focused on our Lords promises. With these unexpected changes our goals shifted, they went from gold medals to just getting him out of bed, from traveling the world to traveling down the hall on his own, to making a name for himself to remembering who we were, where he was and how far he’s come. In the midst of the uncertainty, God blessed us with His grace and mercy. With so much change all at once, God allowed us to see that while our plans are not always aligned with His plans, if we are willing to be obedient in faith, and wait on Him, we can be at true peace.

In November, despite the medical evidence and what modern day medicine suggested would be our path, we welcomed Rich home as he WALKED out of the rehabilitation center just three months after the incident occurred.

In December we were able to celebrate Christmas with friends and family as Rich’s recovery continued to progress with jogging, improvement in his memory and his speech almost entirely back to normal. Christmas morning was filled with a lot of smiles and a ton of love, knowing that this year we were given the best gift ever—a miracle. Oh, and after 6 long months, Mya finally grew her new two front teeth.

This year, start to finish, has taught our family that in a blink of an eye, life can change—for the better or for the worst. We are given two choices when faced with adversity, sit and sulk in the remembrance of what was, or rejoice for what will be by the mercy and grace of God. There is always hope if you’re willing to look for it. I am incredibly thankful for our family, but also for the entire Wrestling community who has supported and lifted our family up in prayer a thousand times this year. 2018 was a year of change, of hope and of answered prayers and many miracles. I am certain 2019 is going to be a year of growth, a year of love and a year of blessings.

Happy New Year ❤️ May God bless you and your family in the coming year.

I’ve wanted to write this since we woke up this morning, but instead I took time to really just live in the moments that God’s grace has provided us with. Each smile, every hug, each breath, I thanked the Lord for today. As I sit here writing this the day is playing like a movie in my mind and once again I am counting our blessings.

This year felt different than those past. It felt complete, it felt whole, it felt right. Not to say other years weren’t filled with cheer and love, but this year, this year our family truly experienced the meaning of Christmas, and I think even the kids realized there was something different as we were all so thankful to have Rich home with us.

I was given the ultimate gift this year, our family was given a miracle, a beautiful blessing of renewed life and a mighty healing. As I saw our children’s faces through out the day—a glimpse of a smile, or heard their laughter from the living room as they whispered and played with one another—my heart felt so over joyed, so full, so thankful. My God how great thou are! I could (and do) scream of your goodness, your faithfulness, your love, but it will never be enough!!

Our entire family would like to thank each of you for your continued love, support and prayers. Thank you for the Christmas cards, the calls and the messages. We are so thankful for each of you and pray God will continue to use you, continue to grow you and continue to bless you as you have all blessed us. We pray you had an incredible and Merry Christmas ❤️ we are also praying for those who had an empty chair at their table this year—my heart breaks for you, I’ve thought about those who have to choke back the tears as they try to celebrate without their loved one, their best friend, their parent or their child; but I pray that our God consumes you with His peace and presence today and always, that He removes the pain and meets it with hope and a greater understanding of His love.

Merry Christmas and God bless you all! #teamperry #overcomer #perrystrong
