AMELIA'S VOICE

Amelia Grace is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Dystonic Cerebral Palsy Quadriplegia when she was about 18 months old. This effects all her muscles and causes involuntary movements which she has to take medication for. Cognitively she is a little behind for her age but she fully understands what people are saying to her.

Whilst at school she is able to share use of a eye gaze communication aid which is fantastic as she can then express her needs more clearly. The machine works by using a retina scanner. In a way it is a little an x box kinnect in that it senses movement. In her case it provides images on a computer screen which she can then look at different images and the sensors pick this up. If we had one of these for her we would be able to attach this to her wheelchair and use it all the time . There are many different programs which would assist in all aspects of life from education to day to day tasks and most importantly fun.

Unfortunately as you can imagine this equipment isn't cheap and is extremely expensive.

As her family and friends we trying to raise the money by fund raising.
