Zeitz Diversity Cornerstone Sculpture

Barney Zeitz and the Bristol County Chamber Foundation has proposed the gift of a sculpture representing diversity in the city, created by Barney Zeitz himself. The Fall River City Council has voted unanimously to accept this gift, which will be placed at the corner of Government Center.

Draft of the cornerstone sculpture, created by Barney Zeitz.

Barney Zeitz shared, "I am profoundly moved to share this news from the Fall River City Council. Fall River Massachusetts is my home town. I spent my first 18 years living there attending the public schools. My parents and grandparents are buried there. I am proud to hail from a place of such great diversity and history. It’s where I learned to work. My friends included people of many faiths and nationalities. I will be building my largest public stainless steel sculpture as the cornerstone of Government Center. It will have a similar feeling to my Immigrant Memorial in Plymouth Massachusetts."

The project will include the inscription: "To the enduring memory of our ancestors who have enriched this land: indigenous peoples , immigrants, the enslaved, and refugees. Their descendants and newcomers will continue to build a strong and peaceful community."

A fund is set up with the Bristol County Chamber Foundation to finance this project. Since this project will be funded through a 501(c)(3) organization, all contributions made will be tax deductible. We would like to thank you for your support, and look forward to having this sculpture by Barney Zeitz to represent the diverse groups of people here, in the city of Fall River.
