Rwanda Ministry Trip

WHO AM I?

My name is Lacy Booth. I am currently enjoying my senior year at Liberty University. I have declared Psychology: with a cognate in Counseling as my major with a minor in Biblical Studies. It is my desire to utilize the skills that I learn here at Liberty in a full-time ministry position in the future. One of my favorite things about this university is her heart and passion for taking God’s love and gospel message to the ends of the earth. That brings me to a bit of good news! I have been chosen to be on a team of Liberty students embarking on a ministry exposure trip to Rwanda, Africa.

ABOUT THE TRIP

In 1994 Rwanda experienced a horrific genocide that destroyed much of the nation. Since that time Rwanda has worked hard to grow and develop as a nation while working through the heartache and pain of the genocide. However, there are some unique developmental challenges which result from Rwanda's history. My team will have the opportunity to learn about the genocide, its impact on psychological development, and the continuing work in rebuilding a country. Our team will get educational learning and ministry experience, and the opportunity to work with widows and orphans.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Just as God has pierced my heart for the people of Rwanda, I hope that He has pierced yours as well. The most important way that you can be involved is through your prayers. There is absolutely nothing more powerful than prayer. I would like to invite you to pray for believers in Rwanda, that they would receive healing and encouragement and that their faith will be firm and steadfast.  Will you pray that God will reveal His truth and heal the people of Rwanda? Will you also ask God to prepare our team to be used and that we will fall more in love with Him than ever before?

Secondly, I would like to invite you to become even more involved in this endeavor.  The total cost of this mission opportunity will be $3500 and is due by March 1st. I have raised $1000 for the trip, so the remaining amount is $2500. The cost covers lodging, food, I realize that not everyone is called to every cause, but maybe you are one that God has called to this one? I trust that you will hear God's voice if this is a way in which you can minister.

Another way in which you can help is by sponsoring a child through Compassion International. Compassion is partnering up with Liberty for this trip to Rwanda. For every child sponsorship under me, I get $125 off of my trip. I personally sponsor a child through Compassion, and it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. If you decide to sponsor a child, you must write "I am sponsoring this child in an effort to help support Lacy Booth's trip to Rwanda with Liberty University." in the section title "I have special instructions for the donation" at the bottom of the checkout page.

I have no doubt that I will see God touch many lives, including my own, through this ministry opportunity. I am looking forward with excitement to the weeks of preparation ahead and to sharing more details with you soon! May the kingdom of our God be expanded and may His church be edified in Rwanda.

In Christ,
