Zechariah's Liver Transplant Fund

$4,911 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 82 people in 19 months

My name is Brian Acosta, I live in San Lorenzo, CA.  I am setting up this fund to help raise money for my nephew Zechariah "Zeke" Acosta.  Zeke is a very beautiful boy who just turned 4 months on November 2016.  When Zeke went in for his 3 month check-up, he was diagnosed with a rare disease known all "BILLIARY ARTESIA".  This is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. Symptoms of the disease appear or develop about two to eight weeks after birth. Cells within the liver produce liquid called bile. Bile helps to digest fat.  This is a LIFE THREATENING CONDITION in infants in which the bile ducts inside or outside the liver do not have normal openings.

There are two procedures that need to be done, the first one has already been performed, where the the system is "bypassed" for the body to function somewhat properly.  However, a second procedure is necessary, which is a LIVER TRANSPLANT.  The liver transplant operation costs around $90,000 - $100,000 (4.5 - 5 Million Philippine Pesos).

At this point, the mother (Naomi) is currently gaining strength to ensure that she is healthy enough to be the donor for the necessary liver transplant.  The surgery needs to be performed as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the body.

This means so much as this is a gift of hope, a gift of life.

Our family will never be able to thank everyone for the financial help as well as the prayers that we will be receiving for baby Zeke.

Praise Report!

We are now down to our last $30,000 (roughly around PHP1.3-1.5M). Yehey!
For the past couple of months (especially during the Holiday season) we were able to raise (offline) $10,000 and most of these funds
that we were able to raise came from the extravagant generosity of our family, friends
(Hi Kye, Aisa and Poy!),
Work (special mention to UNILAB SMM) & churchmates, and also even strangers who just had a generous kind heart to donate and support.
We may not be able to name you all one-by-one but please take note that we are very much thankful to God for your lives and we pray that God will inspire and bless you more abundantly.

Just this Monday, we had a consultation with the liver surgeon and advised us to really push for the April or May (or March if possible) transplant for Zechariah and we are really praying hard (and I hope that you also pray with us) that our family will be able to raise the remaining $30,000 (PHP1.5M) within the next 2-3months.
I know the amount may seem insurmountable but we take heart over the fact that we were able to raise $60,000 in just 1 year and 3months!
How cool is that right? Praise God for this wonderful miracle. :)

So again, please do pray with us. Also if you find it in your heart to extend your assistance by liking, sharing and/or donating to our GoFund or to other means we will gladly appreciate that. :)

Again, many thanks for your blesssing and support and for praying and being with us throughout our journey.

God bless!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

We have updated our current goal, from $100,000 to $40,000 (from fund raising activities outside gofundme, continuous love gifts, and other discounts) as the abundant blessings of God continues to overflow in our family especially to Zechariah.

Currently, we are targeted to have Zechariah's transplant by March or April so we are fervently praying and hoping to reach our remaining goal of $40,000 by that time so our little warrior can get his new liver. :)

We would like to thank all those who donated to our cause and who also shared this page and we hope we can get more support as we are already near to our goal. :)

God bless!

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for all your prayers and donations towards our family. It really means a lot. :)

Just to give you an update on Zechariah's journey, we were advised by our doctors to have his liver transplant done by 1st quarter next year (2018) as he is now prone to more complications. In fact Zechariah already has some heart and spleen complications so it is really advisable to have his transplant done early quarter next year.

We hope that this will materialize as we are still far from our financial goal of $100,000. We are hoping and praying that more people will get to know about the journey of Zechariah and that more people will extend their helping hand by donating to our liver transplant fund for Zechariah.

Thank you very much and God bless.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you once again for all your donations and support towards our family especially to our dear baby Zechariah. :)

Just an update on his status. Zechariah just turned 1, last July 10 and as per his doctors he is doing good progress and his liver transplant may be delayed and might happen not this year which is good news because the older he gets, the higher the chances of the success of the surgery but the timeline is still not 100% sure and will still depend on Zechariah's progress.

For this reason, the whole family is still doing its best to reach its goal of $100,000 (approximately PHP5M) to be prepared in case Zechariah needs the surgery ASAP. We are still far from our target so we hope you can help us promote this page so we can gather more donations for the benefit of Zechariah.

Thank you very much and God bless!
