Socks, Shoes, & Salvation

Our Purpose & Our Vision:
The purpose for the project is to nurture and advance the health of the homeless men, women and children in our community. The homeless lack necessary healthcare and are exposed to communicable diseases in our environment. Chronic exposure to the harsh environment of the high desert makes them susceptible to debilitating illnesses and conditions. By creating this project we hope to reduce various health disparities in this vulnerable population.

Our goal for the event is to incorporate spirituality and nursing care while washing the feet of the homeless. We hope to provide each person with a pair of socks and shoes and education on how to clean feet properly and seek assistance when needed. The students of Azusa Pacific University in collaboration with The Salvation Army will strive each year to make this event happen. It is our greatest hope that this event will bring about humility towards the homeless population and create awareness of their health care needs.

How you can help:
Our plan to change the community starts with you. We are in need of donations to be able to provide at least two pairs of socks, a meal, and a pair of shoes to our local homeless.

We are truly grateful for your support. Any funds collected will be directly used for this project to improve the lives of the homeless.
