You some of the comments below show the ignorance of america. Yes he may have insurance but insurance does not cover every single bit of the costs. And his mom and sister are not charging to take care of him. It is simply to help the family who are missing out on work and responsibilities while caring for this brave young man.

Spencer Stone is an Active Duty member of the US Air Force, he is still getting paid his normal duty pay plus all of his medical bills are completely covered by Tri-Care.... I see this gofundme as complete bullshit I'm sorry.
His family has to stay in hotels and are losing money from missing work (they still have bills people). Its very expensive to care for a relative in the hospital - just paying for your own meals alone is costly. While the United States Air Force will cover his medical bills- they don't provide anyone to care for him so that is left to his family. and for the person who want to know his side (Donald Gray) - the kid just got stabbed in the heart- give it time. But from witness accounts that are not media worthy- one of the men who attacked him had hit a woman outside the bar and he went to defend the woman- who left with the guy who was beating her
Donald, did you not hear the police say "SPENCER IS A VICTIM"? That is a cold, hard fact! Police do not want their ongoing investigation compromised.
I haven't seen any statement from Stone giving his version of what happened and why. Why not? Sounds suspicious. I wish him a speedy recovery but I'm not convinced that he was an innocent in this fight. There were four people with him and I haven't read any statements from them either. If you want to ask me for money - give me some more information please.
Most mom's and sisters would treat him for free. 50K is outrageous and suggest you lower your goal amount so more would consider.
What exactly will the money be going towards? Stone's medical is covered by Tricare.
He doesnt need the money for family because the military houses troops through the fisher house program while troops recover. They also pay hotel room costs.
