I have been diving since age nine and have known early on how much I cherish this sport. I have aspired to be on an Olympic Team since I was young and competed and finaled in the 2012 Olympic Trials. I attended and competed for Florida State University from 2010 to 2015. During that time I set and continue to hold the 10 meter platform record for FSU and the ACC, set the 1 meter record, and became a three time ACC Champion and three time NCAA All American. In the fall of 2015 I graduated with a degree in music and have put my full time into training for the 2016 Olympic Games. I aspire to win an Olympic gold medal in the 10 meter platform individual event and the 10 meter synchronized event. Any help is greatly appreciated as I am putting my full time into training to achieve this goal!

Hi all!

The countless amount of people who have helped me have the opportunity to represent my country at the Olympics is beyond belief. YOU are my village and my supporters and I am so grateful to you all for helping me achieve my dream. I hope I can share this journey with all of you.

I am in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil now living in the Olympic Village. Being around athletes in every discipline from all corners of the world is AMAZING. The amount of people who have helped each of us is incredible to think about.

Yesterday I attended the official welcoming of the USA into the Olympic Village. A speech was given that spoke of all people, no matter their origin, uniting and cherishing the bond that we all have as beings making our way through this life together. This spoke to me and reflected a purpose that I share, of spreading compassion and love and healing this world one step at a time.

I compete in prelims on August 17th and walk in Opening Ceremonies tonight, the 5th of August! If you are able to catch it, it should be broadcast on NBC. From my heart to yours, thank you for being part of my village and helping me make my dream a reality.

With love,
Katrina

Hi all!

First off, I wanted to send my thanks out to everyone for all the support you’ve given me in preparing for Olympic Trials in my quest to compete in this summer’s Olympic Games. In the past few months, a lot has happened!

About a month ago I went to San Antonio, Texas and competed in Synchronized Diving Nationals and placed first in one event and second in another. I dove with Krysta Palmer in the Women’s 10 Meter Synchronized Championship and we placed second. Next, I dove with Zachary Cooper in Mixed 10 Meter Synchronized Diving and we won the meet and became national champions in that event! On top of that, I had a little free time where my coach and his friend taught me how to golf and boy was that a good time. All in all, that meet was a success.

Currently, I am in Palo Alto, California. I just finished a four day USA Diving Camp training with other Olympic contenders and some of the best divers in the country and world. What an inspiration it is to be around people who share the same dream and understand the sacrifice and work ethic it takes to make it possible. We were able to meet with past Olympians as mentors, and meet with the USOC nutritionist and sport psychologist to stay on track. I’m here for two more days to train with Patrick Jeffrey, my previous coach from FSU who is now the head coach at Stanford University.

When I get back to Tallahassee I’ll resume training with my coach, John Proctor and incorporate some information that I learned here to push myself to my full potential.

Until next time, Go USA and Go Noles!!!

Hello All!

I want to post an update to keep you all informed! Training is going great, and each day comes with new challenges and rewards! I'm in a very rigorous training schedule so self discipline with good sleep, mindful eating and energy awareness has come in handy.

The British National Diving Team just came to Tallahassee for a couple of weeks and trained at my pool with the University team and I. Their purpose was to train outdoors and get used to diving in the elements as the Olympics will be outdoors and the wind, rain and other weather can affect you if you're not prepared for them. It was a wonderful time and I love watching other high level athlete’s train hard and make improvements!

In about a week I will go from Tallahassee, FL to San Francisco, CA to train some synchronized diving and be coached by Patrick Jeffrey at Stanford. I can't wait to train there and work on some synchronized 10 meter! Through all of this the next meet that I'm preparing for is Winter National Championships/World Cup Trials in the middle of December in Indianapolis, IN. I plan to compete 10 meter individual and 10 meter synchronized at this meet! Thank you all so much for helping make my dreams come true, this is such an incredible journey and I feel so blessed to be supported by each and everyone of you.

I am 68 years old, and a diving champion. 1962, With no coach, no swim team, and no guidance in any way, I caught a ride with another swim team to go to the Los Angeles Coliseum = and WON first place as a diver. I still do not know exactly how I did this. I made my dives with what I had, and then HIT the last dive as a work of art. My moves in the air were snappy and technical, and I entered the water like I was shot through a straw. Just stay calm, get to that last dive, and HIT IT ! Top of the podium, wreath on my head, flowers in my arms. I imagine your being right there, and I do hope you have the chance to read this before you step up to that platform. Take a breath, and JUST DO IT ! You can do this. My meager contribution will most probably merely buy you lunch, and that is OK. This is all I can afford. Enjoy your lunch - and include some iced tea for me. When you are in Seattle again, I will buy the iced tea.
