Zaza Historia VanDyke The Album

I am Zaza Historia Vandyke. I am a trans woman of color. I am a mother. I am an artist. I have been playing music in the greater Salt Lake area for ten years now and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community I am so proud to watch our community grow here in Utah. Along with its beautiful scenery, Salt Lake City has a vast musical landscape that incorporates and encourages the talents of all types. I feel privileged to be a part of this special community. I’ve always tried to create music that breaks down cultural barriers by streaming together multiple genres and musical styles. Through my lived experiences, I’ve found that music can bring people together like no other medium, a true vessel for connection. With your donations I will make a professional level record from my catalog of original music. How I will make these songs come to life is by collaborating with a wide variety of musicians from all backgrounds. With this money I will be able to hire and incorporate the styles and talents of a multitude of artists in the Salt Lake community who will bring their artistic perspectives to create a musical experience that transcends genres, stigmas and cultures. These donations will allow me to fund the record and pay for music videos and other promotional content to take my message to the widest audience possible. The music industry is no longer about releasing a record and getting on the radio. Its about content. DIY promotion. With this funding I will have the financial capability to hire the right artists and creatives to build this content and push it through media streams that can reach my community and let them know they are not alone. Representation matters and a catalog of music through the lense of a black trans woman matters.
