Zach's new set of lungs
Donation protected
On November 26th, 1988, my little Brother, Zach Hays, was born with a Genetic condition called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a terminal condition that attacks the Respiratory and Digestive systems. In the year Zach was born, someone who was diagnosed with CF, had an average life expectancy of living 14 years. Although there is still no cure for CF, through research and major advances, someone who is born with CF today would have an average life expectancy of living 37 years. Zach desperately needed a new set of lungs. Zach's lungs were only functioning at about 30% effeciancy. Approximately 24 hours ago, my Brother got the phone call. They had a match! Not knowing if this would be the real deal or just a possible dry run, my Brother made it to Boston at 3am. Before he knew it, he was in surgery a few hours later. The surgical procedure lasted 13 hours and Zach became the grateful receipient of two new lungs. Zack is currently in ICU and is in for a long recovery period. Although Zach has Health Insurance coverage, his missed time from work, Co-pays, and out-of-pocket expenses to pay for the countless number of anti-rejections medications will add up quickly. Please consider donating to Zach for as little or as much as you can. Every dollar helps! Please get the word out and share on your facebook pages as well.
