In memory of Susan E. Niler
Friday morning, July 10th, I as well as many others tragically lost a very special friend. Susan Niler started her day like every other Friday and headed to work one last time before looking forward to enjoying the weekend with her family. Sadly, she never made it to work that day. While Susan was driving through South Mountain Reservation, her car was struck by a fallen tree which took her life instantly. The Niler family's life has changed drastically from that moment forward.
Susan leaves behind a heartbroken husband, 3 beautiful, loving children and a very special son in law as well as many others who love and adore her. Susan was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. I know this sounds rather cliche but there is no other way to describe my beloved friend. Her love of life, her sparkling eyes and her beautiful contagious smile lit up every room as soon as she would enter. I was blessed to have her as my friend for the last 33+ years...she was part of the fearsome four.
For as long as I have known Susan she has always taken care of others. First as the oldest of her siblings she instinctively took charge and has been there to assist in any way needed by her siblings, as well as her parents. For several years she volunteered for the Verona Rescue Squad in helping the members of the community. She has nurtured and raised her family and has supported and assisted her friends in so many ways over the years. This was not enough for Susan as she chose the career of nursing where she continued to help and care for people on a daily basis. Her heart of gold and love for others was exhibited throughout her life.
To lessen the financial burden on the Niler family as they begin to settle into a new "normal", the support of her family, friends and community would be greatly appreciated. With one daughter in college and her youngest son just getting ready to enter high school, I am sure any amount large or small can be put to good use. Thank you for caring, sharing and supporting the Niler family during this devastating time.
