Yarn for Wildlife Rescue Nests

$1,330 of $2,000 goal

About our cause:

Since 2013  I have gathered a large dedicated network of knitters and crocheters that create nests for birds, squirrels, bunnies, and other small mammals to donate to wildlife rescues. We are currently distributing nests to over 340  wildlife rescues in Canada, the United States, Ireland, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy, India, Africa,  Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica. The only thing we ask for in return from the wildlife rescues is a few pictures of little ones in the nests, as they are shared on Wildlife Rescue Nests Facebook page to help promote our cause.

Here is a link to our Facebook page, where you can find lots of pictures of the nests being used.    www.facebook.com/wildliferescuenests

You can also visit us on our website to:
Register to receive nests from our network of vounteers if you are a wildlife rescue
OR
Register  as a volunteer with us to have access to our  patterns,  mailing list of wildlife rescues and our tally sheets showing which nests have been requested for each rescue.

Many volunteers are using up yarn from old projects, scraps and such, but there are quite a few of us that are very dedicated to making these nests and we have used up all of our extra yarn and are now purchasing yarn, so we can keep making the nests.   Each package of nests, depending on package size and destination, typically costs between $10-$20 to ship.

Thank you for supporting Wildlife Rescue Nests' Volunteers!

On October 24, 2016 we reached our set goal of raising $1000, thanks to a very generous donation from not only a supporter of our project, but a fellow WRN volunteer :) Many thanks to everyone that has donated to our cause! The fundraising amount for our campaign has since been raised, so we may continue to use the same links for fundraising efforts. This coming spring will mark the fourth anniversary for Wildlife Rescue Nests and the beginning of my fifth year of creating nests! It amazes me daily how we have grown from helping a handful of wildlife rescues in Ontario, Canada to providing nests to over 350 wildlife rescues globally! Many thanks again to everyone for their support of the Wildlife Rescue Nests project! Visit our website for more details, to sign-up to receive nests if you are licensed wildlife rehabilitator or to register with us to become a WRN volunteer! http://wildliferescuenests.weebly.com/ Below are recent photos from our friends at Back To The Wild in Ohio of a baby Red squirrel they are caring for and from Safe Wings Ottawa of a little Wood duckling snuggled in its nest :)

Many thanks to all of our supporters for their very generous donations to our project! Since introducing our Nest Registration Form in August 2015, our volunteers have registered over 12000 nests to the over 350 wildlife rescues currently on our mailing list. For September 2016, our records show that 69 batches of nests were registered, for a total of 577 nests, sent to 50 wildlife rescues on our mailing list! Below are recently submitted photos from our friends at Wildlife Rescue Fraser Coast in Australia of a Welcome swallow enjoying its nest and from our friends at Forth Hedgehog Hospital in the UK of a little hedgehog peeking out of its nest :)

Got chilled. Thought about small mammals also getting cold. Thank goodness for your knitters.
