"Allison Rickert was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a loved one. She was full of poetry and art, full of laughter and tact. She was brutally honest, quick witted, brilliant, and made every soul who knew her a little brighter than before.

On Friday, September 18th, 2015, she left this world too early. Multiple pulmonary emboli took her from us at the age of 24. Friends and loved ones flocked to her through her poetry and narratives. She wrote to process, appreciate, and share her gratitude for the world around her. This gofundme page is to honor her work, and to help others follow her passion for poetry, art, and English.

With some of these funds, I am hoping to gather a chunk of her work with the intention of publication. I will be making a series of poetry books, available on a website (to be announced) for her and her scholarships. The Allison Rickert Scholarship, or the Ally-Cat Scholarship will be given out to creative hearts who are desperate to follow their path, and find a voice, a sense of reassurance that their words mean something, just as Allison had.

Allison, your words, your life, and your love all mattered. Your voice was the strongest that I ever knew. We lost you; now we create your legacy."

-Shelby Feeney

After Allison's unexpected passing, a few friends of hers decided to start this page for a couple of reasons. We believed that someone with such a creative mind and prolific writing ability such as Allison's deserved to be memorialized. A member of Millersville's Creative Writer's Guild and an editorial intern at the book publishing division of Highlights for Children magazine, Allison had a passion for writing and a skillset to match. We came to the conclusion that a scholarship, given out to a member of Millersville University's English department, would be an appropriate means to help Allison's name and love of writing live on.

Millersville's minimum requirement for scholarships is $300 a year for four years. Our goal of $1,500 would help cover both the scholarship for four years, as well as help offset printing/publishing costs for Allison's poetry books. Anything over the $1,500 will go towards the scholarship fund, adding to the annual dollar amount and/or the number of years we can afford to give out the award.

We appreciate any and all donations to the cause.
