Help Ben Heal

As many of you know my 8 year old nephew Benjamin Pryzant has been going through a lot medically for the past few months. His mother, and our family have been going back and forth to Janet Weis Children's Hospital for months for testing on him to find a diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan. My sister is a single mother to two sons Benjamin and Elijah and is stretched financially by all that this process has involved. Yesterday we found out the diagnosis and have been devastated since. Benny has a very rare congenital disease of his kidneys and urethras, along with significant permanent damage to both of his kidneys. On July 5,2018 he will undergo his first surgery which will take hours and require him to be in the hospital for at the very least several days. The surgeon said that they will cut him open in the same way that they would a woman for a C-section, and then cut out and remove the damaged and blocked urethras, followed by putting in stents in the urethras and reattaching them to his bladder. This first surgery will then render him to be on strict bed rest for a month with round the clock care by his mother and family. We have to be very careful of any secondary infection, which he is at high risk of. We were told if he gets a secondary infection which could happen in the most sanitary circumstances due to the type of surgery this is that he would be in life threatening danger, and would then need to be on dialysis. He would then need a kidney transplant. That is all worst case scenario but a very high risk unfortunately. Then on August 2, 2018 he will undergo a second surgery to remove the stents which will then require further healing and repeated trips to the Children's hospital. After the first two surgeries depending on how he is healing and how his high blood pressure is doing he will then have to see a kidney specialist to address the kidney damage and blood pressure issue. His mother has to travel an hour and forty minutes each way to get him to and from the hospital. Due to him needing round the clock care and repeated stays and trips to the hospital she will need to take a lot of unpaid time off of work, which is going to be a huge financial burden on our family. Our family has been through many trying times as many of you know, all we have family wise is each other, which is my sister Courtney (Ben's mom), our other sister Mackenzie, our brother Matt, and myself. Through all the years since our mother's treatment of cancer and resulting death from cancer, ten years ago we have never asked for financial help before. It is humbling in the least to ask our community of friends to help us in this trying times but completely necessary. Thank you in advance for any help, prayers, and well wishes for our precious boy Benjamin.
