Most of you will already know me, but if not, my names Jay, and I’m a 25-year-old trans man.
I’ve never written anything like this before - and if I’m honest I’m scared of it sounding like a pitty story rather than a request for help. I suck at asking for help, and I can be a real closed book on this subject so, I’m going to try and not do that, and explain to you why I need chest surgery and what you’d be doing in helping me raise money.
I’ve wanted chest surgery for as long as I can remember, its been the main part of my body that I’ve never understood having, and on a daily basis leaves me feeling drained from wanting it gone. I day dream a lot about having a flat chest and what it will feel like to run my hands over it, what it looks like to see the two neat scars staring back at me in the mirror. I hate summer, because it means that I feel my most exposed and vulnerable, and I’m often in pain from binding tightly to make sure that its not obvious I’m wearing one.
Coming out as transgender has been the hardest thing I’ve done, and I’ve lost more than I imagined I would prior to coming out. It’s tested me as a person in my strength and durability and I’ve had to ask myself questions about what truly matters to me, what kind of man I want to be, my own happiness and whether I should apologise for being who I am, when I know it’s hurt someone that I’ve come out as transgender. The truth is, being transgender for me has been really painful, but every bit of pain has been worth it for the sense of self that I am now building and will continue to build.
So I’m asking if you could please help me raise money towards my chest surgery, and help me get to my goal of looking like Brad Pitt (absolutely not), but seriously, I’d be forever grateful to you, I definitely can’t get there on my own, so any help is huge help and I thank you massively.
