Australian Under-20 Ultimate Teams

We are Thunder and Terra, the Australian U20 (boys and girls) Ultimate Frisbee teams that will be travelling to Poland at the end of July to compete at the 2016 World Junior Ultimate Championships. For most of us, this will not only be the first tournament that we play - but it will also be our first time travelling overseas.

Ultimate frisbee is a sport that, while recognised by the AIS, receives no elite athlete funding. This means that we will have to raise money while also studying at high school and university. The support of the wider community will be essential to our ability to travel overseas.


Before travelling to Poland, we will have flown to 2 selection camps in Melbourne and Sydney, and attended four training camps around Australia.

The money that we will raise in this campaign will go toward funding our uniforms, volunteer assistant coaches and physio. All of these are vital parts of the World Championship campaign and will be integral to our success overseas. It will mean that we can dedicate more time to training, and less time to worrying about raising money.


For most of us, this will give us the opportunity to live out our dream of representing our country in a sport we love. The responsibility of wearing the green and gold, playing for Australia and meeting people from all over the world is one that we will remember for the rest of our lives.

The World Junior Ultimate Championships campaign will improve and focus our skills as athletes and members of society due to the unique 'Spirit of the Game' aspect of Ultimate Frisbee.
