In the past year my friends and I have built 3 houses in Honduras. The last family we helped had 6 children living in a 10×10 shack with a dirt floor and no electricity. Each house we build costs approximately $4,000. It is a major upgrade from their current living conditions. The homes we build have a concrete floor, bathroom, and new stove. We are already planning our next trip and have the means to build as many homes as we have money for. Many people in Honduras live on approximately $3 a day. Children can't go to school if they don't have money for a uniform or food to bring for lunch. I've seen children 7 to 10 years old who have to drop out of school to help support their family.
