You're So Much Fun - The Song

This is a dream.

I've been playing in a band called HomeBrew for 4 years.  Technically, we're a hobby band made up of medical personnel.  A few doctors and medical assistants.  I am not a medical person.  We play vintage R&B, Swing and Rock.  We are a 10 piece band with horns.

October of 2017, our band played for a medical fundraiser that was called, "Battle of the Doctor Bands."  Each band must have at least one doctor in it.  There were three bands and 3 judges.  One judge was from radio, and the other two were professional musicians.  Both well known in Portland and beyond.

We were the last band to perform and then got our feedback from the judges.  One of the musical judges was renowned pianist, Michael Allen Harrison.  He was very supportive of our band and the one original song we performed in our 4 song set that was written by me.

After the event, I went to thank the judges for coming and being supportive of local music.  Michael made it a point to tell me that my song needed to be recorded and sent to all kinds of music publishing  and record companies because as he stated to me, "It needs to be in a movie....even if you're not performing it, it needs to be recorded."

Since then I have contacted a long-time friend who has worked with   top musicians as a sound engineer, producer, arranger and musician.  We talked and he wants to produce my song, "You're So Much Fun."

I want this song to be about our band and what we sound like, while at the same time see what I can to do with it once we have a good recording and to follow Michael Allen Harrison's instructions.

"You're So Much Fun," is an R&B/Pop, feel good love song, that I wrote in response to my 30 year marriage to the love of my life, Barb. It has now become a standard in our bands set list.

Once we have the funds we can record and see what happens.  If for nothing else, having the song recorded will be a wonderful experience for my band mates as we continue to use our skills and talents for both paying and fundraising events.

I would be deeply grateful if you could help in anyway to make this possible.  What I can offer in response, is to offer our band to perform at your fundraising event that's making a positive difference in the greater Portland/Vancouver area at no cost.  Of course this is dependent on the bands schedule.

Thanks in advance.

This past Saturday at Dead Aunt Thelma's Studios, we recorded the song, You're So Much Fun. It was a long day (13 hours in the studio), but it was well worth the effort. Our producer, engineer, Dean Baskerville, will now do his magic in post-production to create some wonderful magic for the song. We hope to have the song available on or before our bands Dec 15th holiday party at the Lucky Lab in SW Portland. Stay tuned.
