Yoga & Surfing reforestation project, SW Portugal

Hello Everyone,
We are Lea & Tarik. Parents to four wild children, we are surfers, yogis, and nature lovers.
"Life in Syntropy - 15 minutes documentary"
We are raising money to reforest 2.3 Acres of land in SW Portugal. We intend to invest the money in solar energy and irrigation so we can burst the system in the beginning, so all the species introduced can thrive and grow healthier and faster. We are organising a Syntropic Agriculture Course (open for anyone interested) from November 21st to 24th, 2019, where we will host two specialists on land restoration and Syntropic Agroforestry: Sergio Olaya from Brazil and Jaime Paramo from Spain. Our idea is to create a Agroforestry model that can serve as small scale example on how one could create and replicate similar systems anywhere in the world. This system is especially designed to grow forests in areas where there are few trees, plant productivity and/or biodiversity.
We have been living in SW Portugal since 2013, making dramatic move to the countryside after our house, close to Lisbon, caught on fire and we lost everything. We had two options: restart in Lisbon or head to the countryside, in a small coastal town 2 hours south of Lisbon. What was originally a huge catastrophe, became a catalyst and blessing (no one got hurt). We moved with our three children (now four), and quicly adopted 2 horses and 4 dogs.
We are yoga teachers and surfers. From May to September we host Yoga Students coming from around the globe to practice Yoga with us. We call our program "Yoga, Surf & Sun." After many years of dreaming of the possibility of owning our own land, in this amazing region, we finally came across what we were looking for. A piece of land, 3 km away from the beach and close to our children´s schools. The land is located on a agricultural reserve, where most of our neighbours plant grain to feed cattle. This type of activity, almost always over time, depletes soil and other resources. Our region is becoming more and more dry, especially considering the global climate crisis, atypical weather patterns, etc.
The only solution to reverse this tendency is to imprint a positive impact on our enviornment, by planting trees AND by reintroducing native species that are adapted to the climate. We have around 60 small cork trees on our land, along with a few small fruit trees. We will be introducing many more species of trees, foraging plants, aromatic bushes and fast growth exotic species, that will give us organic matter to build a healthy soil, slowly regeneating the land.
Ideally we would have funds by this November, allowing for solar energy (electricity) and the instalation of a temporary irrigation system. Tree planting must be done between autumn and winter, to encourage enought root growth to surviver our dry summers in the Alentejo.
The Funds received with go to:
Solar System
Artesian Well
Trees and other Plant Species
The possibility of reaching our goal and having access to these funds would mean so much for our family and also as new members of a community, where unfortunately there are less and less young people and kids. So much knowledge is being lost, so much land has been abandoned.
Anyone helping us to reach our goal will be actively helping to imprint a positive change in the world. Without Nature we simply can’t survive.
Thank you for your support.
Blessings.
