Sweet dumped kitty needs surgeries-

Donation protected
We live along a dirt road in the Adirondack Park in New York.  On the evening of September 8 we were driving on an uninhabited section of the road when we saw a white streak run across in front of us.  We stopped and saw a young white kitten sitting in the weeds near the road.  We stopped and she came right over to us,  thin, covered with fleas, and one eye missing.

Given her location and condition and yet her obvious friendliness to humans it seems likely she was dumped in this remote area.  We have no idea how long she was out there on her own with the coyotes and raptors but it's pretty clear she wouldn't have lasted much longer.  She was in pretty bad shape physically, although somehow she seemed to be bent on getting patted.  As thin as she is, she's more interested in attention than food.  Since she wasn't listless we decided to try and get her some help and took her home for the night, quarantining her in a spare room so she wouldn't infect our existing pets.

The next morning we took her to the vet and paid $338.25 for treatment, including: de-wormer, flea medicine, antibiotics, distemper and rabies shots, FELV and FTLV and heartworm tests, eye ointment, ear drops, and antiviral chews.  We also took her for additional treatment at a cat-specific facility for $120.25.

We have been happy to pay this and nurse her back to health, as she is very sweet and once past quarantine has been getting along well with our other pets.
The bills aren't over, however.  We have been told that in addition to the standard need to spay her, she will also need to have her bad left eye removed so that it won't get infected and eventually kill her.  The doctors said her eye was either underdeveloped in general or atrophied due to a feline herpesvirus.  These surgeries combined will cost $964.

We are happy to keep her and add her to the menangerie, but we would like help with these initial costs, if possible, since $1423 is a lot to spend on a brand new pet; it's pretty much my entire monthly income.

If you have any cash you could spare (even just $5) to help with this kitty we would be super grateful.

UPDATE:
The surgery cost $158 less than expected, dropping the total costs to $1267.  Thank you, Paris Hill Cat Hospital!
