****** I am writing this story on behalf of my husband Peni Lutudromu in an effort to share his story and support his fundraising efforts for his family and village!

Peni Lutudromu is a well respected, well known member of the rugby community in Regina and across Canada. He was born in Fiji and grew up in the village of Nacamaki on Koro Island. He was recruited from Fiji to play professional rugby in New Zealand. Upon meeting his wife,he moved to Canada10 years ago and currently resides in Regina, Saskatchewan with his wife and three young  children. He is employed by Young's Equipment. When Peni is not busy with his family and not working, he gives endless hours of his time to volunteering and playing rugby at a variety of levels and to supporting community development.  Coming from a developing country,  he understands the importance of giving and has traveled mulitiple times with the Dog River Howlers rugby team to developing countries  to help those in need.

Peni is currently involved in Regina Mini Rugby, Regina Rookie rugby, Campion Grad's mens rugby, Rogues women's rugby, Saskatchewan Prairie Fire and Sask Under 18 &16 teams, the University of Regina men's rugby, and the Dog River Howler's. He has been named Sask Coach of the year for the last two years. Since coming to Canada almost ten years ago, he has been instrumental in helping to develop Sask rugby.  He is a true community leader.

On Feb 20th, cyclone Winston hit Fiji and the hardest hit area was Peni's island,  Koro Island. The cyclone was said to be one of the worst cyclones in world history.  Stories are starting to come forward of the devastation that the Fijians endured with the cyclone that brought over 350 km winds and flooding.  Peni's family lost their home and all of their belongings. His entire village was almost destroyed. 29 lives were lost in Fiji during the cyclone and while Peni’s  family all survived, they are virtually left with nothing. Besides their home and belongings, the have also lost their crops and their animals to which their livelihood depends.

We are fundraising to support Peni, his family and his village of Nacamaki in Fiji following the devastation left behind after cyclone Winston. We are raising funds to help Peni's family and his village rebuild their lives. Peni will plan to travel to his home village in March and meet with his family and village elders to assist with the rebuilding of the village.
Funds raised will be used at that time to help his family buy building materials  to rebuild their home and to help the village repair priority buildings such as the school, church and community hall! Staple foods such as rice, flour, cooking oil, and yeast will also be purchased for the village on the msinland and taken by Peni to the village in March!

Peni is a man who came from very little and has endured many hardships growing up in Fiji. He followed his dreams of rugby and  became a man who gives so much to those around him, because he truly understands what it is like to have little.

Please help support Peni in his mission to help rebuild for his family and his village.

Thanks,
Mikki Ulmer (Peni's wife)
