I am Yijun Feng, a 2016 table tennis Olympic athlete. I am currently the U.S. National Champion, North American Cup Champion, and I am the first American to qualify for the men’s singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics. I am writing to you about funding both for Olympic training and traveling fees and for Pro Tours before and after the Summer Olympics.

U.S. Olympic table tennis athletes are among the most poorly funded players in the world. Despite being the current U.S. Champion and the best player on the U.S. Olympic team, most of my daily training and tournaments are self-funded. I was self funded to play the recent 2016 North American Cup too. The U.S.A. Table Tennis association does not have the funds to support our team to play in Pro Tours around the world, yet every other country plays in a Pro Tour every month. I played only one this year. It is becoming very difficult for me to continue playing table tennis competitively with such a low coverage sponsor.

That’s why I need your support. I am very committed to becoming a top 100 men’s table tennis player in the world, but I can’t do it alone. Your donations will help me get the training I need to lead the U.S. team to gold in Rio. Help me achieve my dream.
