What a time to be alive!

My name is Melanie McCoy and I am a scholar activist and organizer. God is amazing for blessing me and my ancestors have truly added joy to my life. I am also so thankful for my mother, father, grandmother and other support systems. Despite my mother passing in Nov., I am hoping that I can continuously make her proud. Thanks to your numerous prayers, not only did I graduate with a BA in Africology and African American Studies from Temple University, I was accepted into every Master's program I applied to.

I will attend my first choice, Georgia State University, to pursue an MA in African American Studies where I will continue my research on Afrofuturism, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. This means that for the first time in my life I will be not only living on my own, but I will be leaving Philadelphia and moving to Atlanta.

Although I will be working this summer, I will need help with just a few things.

Most importantly

- Airfare
- Moving expenses
- Housing
- Books

I will need a good portion of these funds by July or by the end of that month at the latest. This means so much to me, because I am pursuing my dream of becoming a better scholar, in addition to using my work to help positively change the lives and futures of Africans of the diaspora (Black people everywhere!). By helping me, you will be helping and supporting many others, because of the principle of Ubuntu (I am because we are).

Each person, will receive a thank you note, because I am so thankful.

I hope that your day is just as beautiful and as bright as you are!
