Year 2: Luang Prabang Camp

Luang Prabang is the birth place for traditional Lao music but children in Luang Prabang have limited access to learning this skill due to the lack of instruments and qualified teachers. As a result, the Lao Heritage Foundation created a Lao Art and Culture summer camp in Luang Prabang modeled after their programs in the U.S. The first crowd funding campaign made the launching of the 2017 summer camp in Luang Prabang a great success.
With your support, the Lao Heritage Foundation was able to purchase $6,405 worth of instruments last summer. The instruments purchased for The Children's Cultural Center of Luang Prabang and The Luang Prabang Orphanage School included 6 lanad, one kong wong, 10 saw, 2 drums, 10 kaen, 3 kim, and 10 mini cymbals. In addition, food and transportation were provided for the students from the orphanage for two weeks of camp. Three music teachers were hired. Three hundred students benefited from the program and learned music, dance, English, and singing.
Your contribution today will help us provide another year of music, dance, English lessons, and singing lessons for the 300 children in Luang Prabang. Our goal is to raise $4000 to pay for 4 music teachers, provide food and transportation for up to 50 students for a total of 10 days. Proceeds will also be used to help fund food and housing for the teachers during camp.

Food for 50 students for 10 days: $2 per student per day equals $1000
Transportation for 50 students for 10 days: $12 per day per car for 3 cars equal $ 360
150 printed books: $1.50 per book equals $225
1 Kong Wong for the orphanage school: $676
Lodging for 1 teacher $500 for 3 teachers equals $1500
Food for 10 teachers: $4 per day (lunch and dinner) equals $400
Total cost for 2018: $5361
