Creating a gym space for ALL BODIES

Donation protected
This is scary. Really scary. I'm putting myself out there and it is terrifying, but it's my passion and career and the mission of helping others that I fight for - so I hope you'll read on and consider.

For the last 4 years I've been operating as an independent contractor - working out of one facility, then another, then another - as my colleagues and I became priced out of Seattle. In the last 4 years I have trained out of 6 different facilities. I've become good at accepting change. ;)

I'm ready to create a more stable space and a fitness team that is aligned with my goals as a health coach, personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and Yoga teacher. My mission is to create a safe, supportive community environment where all individuals can find personal accountability, safe and effective classes, and grow their strength and confidence within.

I've worked to create this environment again and again and again. My alignment in my career and passion in my practice has been to serve those who feel "left out" in some way from the traditional "gym" paradigm. But, I continue to lose footing of this community as we move, move, move.

The wonderful people of this world that happen to be anxious, injured, scared, older, younger, transgender, gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, disabled, or who feel left out in any number of ways - may not feel welcome in a traditional "gym" environment. Are the locker rooms safe? Will my trainer know how to modify for my body? Will they understand my dis-ease or the impact of my medications or hormones? Will I be judged? Will my trainer listen to and understand my individual goals?
This list goes on. It sadly keeps individuals from seeking support!

I want to create a safe haven of sorts for EVERYONE to become healthier, stronger, more confident, and self assured. Gyms aren't just for cisgender, genetically blessed, already-fit, fashionable individuals. Gyms and fitness and life and HEALTH are for EVERYONE.

I've found a great space and I'd like to open a cooperative gym for people like me - who felt they didn't belong. We'll feature yoga and strength & balance training for seniors. We'll offer bootcamp classes, one on one training, and workshops. We'll have parties, celebrate holidays together, and grow as a family.

Having moved from space to space, unable to develop solid and deep roots, I don't have the funds to kick this off and get started by myself. Unfortunately, it takes money to make money --- and I need to make money in order to continue to provide services for others.

With this money;

1. I'll buy protective rubber flooring to protect clients' joints. Did you know that the force of jumping 10 times a day can help make your bones stronger?

2. I'll pay first month, last month, and deposit for the space.

3. I will purchase equipment to provide safety measures, an AED, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc.

4. I will purchase equipment for classes - mats, straps, blocks, small hand weights.

5. I will purchase fitness equipment such as a squat rack, barbells, dumbbells, medicine balls, resistance bands, a weight rack, kettlebells, etc. I will purchase previously used items whenever possible.
