My name is Kel, I'm a parkour coach and organiser in Melbourne (and I'm sure many of you reading this will know me.) I'm very excited to be attending the Art of Retreat in Scotland this year to present and participate. It's a long way to go though, so I need your help.
Funds raised will go towards my flights and accommodation for the trip, which will begin in late April, 2019.
The Art of Retreat is an idea-exchange platform supporting education, development, and leadership within Parkour. Coaches and leaders in parkour from all over the world will be attending to exchange new ideas and information across a wide array of subjects including coaching methods, education theory, best business practices, scientific research, architectural and urban design, global trends, and local community building.
About me:
I have been coaching parkour since 2014, in Scotland and in Melbourne since she returned in 2016. I am a founding director of Melbourne in Motion.
I passionately believe that parkour and movement is for every body. I have worked for years towards dismantling the gender bias in parkour, with groups like Glasgow Parkour Girls and Women of Melbourne Parkour . I have a particular interest in helping to provide access and support to those who have been marginalised by mainstream sports cultures; the weird kids who maybe switched off from movement and playing because PE class wasn't set up for them.
I am also a visual artist with a MFA from the Glasgow School of Art. I don't like shoes that much and have recently developed an interest in throwing heavy things around.
