06/06/18 UPDATE: We are happy to share with you all that Phoebe is out of surgery and the doctors tell us that it went well. The staff at the veterinary hospital say she is "wide-eyed and bushy tailed" and recovering nicely. She is resting now and will be monitored throughout the rest of the day. We will have more updates for you tomorrow.

06/05/18 URGENT UPDATE: Today, Phoebe had a consultation with her cardiologist, who tells us that time is of the essence. If we do not act now, Phoebe could have severe lifelong heart issues. With this in mind, we have decided to proceed with this urgent surgery tomorrow.
Meet Phoebe, a precious 8-week-old Pomeranian who is cute as a button.
As adorable as she is, her short puppy life has not been easy so far. Phoebe needs a heart surgery in order to survive.
Please, give today to help ensure that Phoebe has the long, happy and healthy life she so deserves.
Phoebe was brought to the APF by a breeder who could not afford the necessary surgery and wanted to do the right thing by the puppy. Phoebe's diagnosis is Patent Ductus Arteriosus . Simply put, a vessel in her heart that normally closes after birth did not close. This means her lungs are not getting enough blood and her heart is under a lot of pressure. If not treated, Phoebe will go into heart failure. We need your immediate help so that we can give Phoebe a chance at the future she deserves. The life-saving surgery will be performed at Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham, and is estimated to cost $5,700.
Time is of the essence. Phoebe’s heart needs immediate surgical help so that it does not go into failure. We need to raise the funds to cover the operation so that Phoebe can live out a healthy, happy and full life. Please donate to the APF ’s Veterinary Care Fund now so that we can schedule a date for the surgery and provide hope for this innocent little one.
