Yaphet Miller Memorial Fund

Donation protected
On Thursday, September 22, 2016, Captain Yaphet Miller fought his final fire, a three-alarm blaze. Four days later, Yaphet's heart suddenly stopped, resulting in an anoxic brain injury. He was taken to Centennial Hills Hospital and his family has been by his side since.

The swelling in Yaphet's brain subsided after seven days and a clear picture of the injury emerged. There was no hope of recovery. The family honored his wishes and he was taken off all supportive care at noon, Monday October 3rd. Yaphet was then moved from the ICU to a hospice care center. He was attended by his crew and made his last ride in R53 with E53 and his family in escort. While his body has now passed, his memory will live on, with all of us. His family has been strengthened by the outpouring of support shown by the men and women of the North Las Vegas Fire Department and they have expressed their gratitude a thousand times over.

We will always remember Yaphet as he was, standing tall, ready to go to work as soon as the bell sounded and always looking out for his people. The many of us who were lucky enough to have known Yaphet will never forget his huge, genuine smile. Yaphet was loved and respected by everyone who met him. He was a seasoned captain who dedicated 22 of his brief 43 years on this earth to serving others.

Yaphet will be missed by all, but this is an especially difficult time for the Miller family. Yaphet leaves behind his loving wife, Nicole, his children Aliyah and Ashton, and his mother Annie-Mae. The goal of this memorial fund is to provide assistance to the family he loved so much while they struggle with their loss.

With the most sincere appreciation we thank you for your consideration and donation.
