New Equipment for Voice Acting & Art

Donation protected

A few years ago, I was doing impressions in my room on my laptop internal mic, just doing it for fun for people on the Internet, answering requests and singing songs in character voices. I never would have dreamed that I'd be getting paid for it, but here we are now.

My voice became so in demand that I had to raise prices in order to reduce the amount of clients I was managing at one time, at guess what? Even at $10 a minute, theres still plenty who clamor for my work, even overpay, such as a good friend who insisted on giving me $30 for about 30 seconds of work.

It's all very exciting and overwhelming to me, to discover such a talent, but there are a few problems.

For one, despite a good collection of clients, I continue to live in poverty. Commissions are my main source of income, and as a disabled woman, I'm lucky if I'm able to do two hours of work a day before I start getting diminishing returns that result in physical pain or mental anguish. Add on to the fact that I attend school part time during the spring and summer, and its a wonder how I'm able to make rent at all.

Still, for about a year now I've been doing voice commissions on a cheap $33 webcam, and although it is better than a laptop's internal mic, I need to upgrade. I want to provide higher quality work to my clients. I've had to decline a couple of opportunities already because my recordings have too much "wetness" and "reverb" to them, and while I should know what these things are as a voice actor, all I know is that I need to get a better microphone and better surroundings.

Here are two pieces of equipment I plan to get with the funding you'll give me.

The snowball microphone should increase quality overall and the isolation shield should help with the constant echo I get when recording, thus enabling me to engage in more polished projects without putting too much pressure on the client's end to edit the tracks I give them.

But that's not all, although I offer voice acting, I'm also a illustrator and I recently opened up a website to sell prints of my work at https://yaoimeowmaster.com/store.

An example of some of my prints available for purchase.

I need shipping supplies to  ensure that prints will arrive at their owners safe and sound.

Here is what I need upfront in order to protect the prints in the mail.

Total cost of materials: Around ~$173.57

Total Cost for Voice Acting Equipment Alone: ~$114.98

In terms of funding, the Voice Acting Equipment is top priority and will be purchased first if the overall goal is not reached.

As far as when I'd like the campaign to end, I'm thinking I'd like to receive the money by May 11th as that is around the time my Amazon Prime membership runs out and thus will ensure I receive my items as soon as possible.

While this is a short campaign, it's also an inexpensive one compared to many others around here, and I estimate that this will be able to fit in people's pay cycles, as there are 3 fridays before the end of the fundraiser.

In the event I somehow go over the asked for amount, I will use the extra money to pay for hosting of https://yaoimeowmaster.com

Illustration incentives can be worked on immediately while other incentives will be worked on when the campaign ends and I receive my equipment, (so that audio incentives can be crisp clean quality and print incentives dont get damaged.)

Thank you for reading all this and considering to donate. It really means a lot to me to be able to get a leg up for all this and hopefully be able to make it in the industry. :)

Have a wonderful day!
