A Capella Academy

Hi everyone!!
Im Arica Zavatsky, I'm sure a lot of you who are reading this probably already know me but for those of you who don't I would love for you to get to.

This year I am a Senior and I attend St. Clairsville High School. I am involved in every musical opportunity that our school offers. Starting at the age of 3 I took the stage at my familys church and since then singing has played a huge role in my life. When entering high school I became a part of the show choir along with the chamber choir, and our schools musical productions. Coming to a close on my high school career, Junior and Senior year, along with show choir and musical I had the opportunity to join an auditioned group called Sweet Harmony. Having gained experience from that I decided I wanted more, more of a chance to do what I love most, so I decided to audition for something that has become my most valued experience, A Capella Academy.

A Capella Academy is an intensive summer camp for ages 13-18 created by the Producer of Pentatonix Ben Bram, Bass of Pentatonix Avi Kaplan, and Music Arranger Rob Dietz. During this time you are broke up into groups and are challenged with arrangements created by your counselor. Throughout the week you participate in workshops, group rehearsals, and get to experience personal performances from groups such as The APU Chamber Singers, Pentatonix, Julia Easterlin, and M-pact. Closing out the most memorable week, we have a final concert where parents and guests from all over come to a venue to hear all of the groups preform. On June 27, I traveled to Azusa, California to start my first day of camp, little did I know that experience would change my life. I spent almost two weeks there gaining confidence, meeting the most amazing people, and most of all improving my voice. The group I was placed in was named Deceptive Cadence, It consisted of 7 campers and we were assigned to sing Slick R&B. We performed a mashup of “ Fine China” by Chris Brown and “ Sitting up in my room” by Brandy, also a Tori Kelly medley.

This year on February 1st I received an email at 1:01 AM informing me that they had received a total of 556 auditions and I was one of 73 students to be accepted into A Capella Academy, top 13%. Having gone once before, I truly believe this camp is something everyone deserves to experience but also understanding it doesn't always work out that way. Last year I created a Gofundme and the money raised from that decreased the expense of this immensely. This year adding an extra day also adds an additional $100, which leaves the camp tuition cost at a total of $1995 not including air fare and other travel expenses. We received a deadline of April 1st to make our first deposit but shortly after the full tuition will be due. I am beyond grateful for the help and support i received last year from family and friends. To make this trip possible any donation is greatly appreciated. Being able to attend Academy again is something that means so much to me in so many ways. I truly can’t thank everyone enough for making it possible for my to go on this journey once more. Thank you for taking the time to read about my musical achievements and no matter the amount, your constant support is beyond appreciated.
