Help Ben get Stem Cell Therapy now!

£25,270 of £25,000 goal

Raised by 179 people in 12 months
Our 10 year old son Ben was born by emergency caesarian because his umbilical cord was wrapped tightly round his neck in the womb. This caused a certain degree of brain damage resulting in severe learning and social difficulties. He has the chronological age of 5 years and will not be attending mainstream school after primary level which is so sad. The poor lad has short term memory loss so remembering things he has learnt is fulitile.  At 10 years old he still cannot read and write or even remember what day it is today or even when his birthday is. There is however, a treatment available to repair his brain damage similar to the treatment for Stroke Victims or Cerebral Palsy but it's only available abroad  in countries like Germany, Switzerlandand USA but it's also expensive.
Please help to raise the funds to take our son for this treatment so he can have a more normal and fulfilling life.
He was unfortunately also born with a rare and dangerous genetic condition called Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome  (CCHS ) where he stops breathing the minute he falls asleep. So he uses a machine that breathes for him every time he goes to sleep and also has a nurse that takes care of him during the night so we his parents can sleep. This could have also been a cause of some brain damage before he was diagnosed. Please follow the links for more info;  http://www.cchsuk.org
There is no cure for that problem and he will suffer with it all his life but with Stem Cell Therapy he could definitely have a better life by repairing the damage caused to his brain. There is also the possibility to get a medical alert assistance  dog that can be trained to take care of him during the night when he gets to his teenage years when his privacy becomes important to him.
Feel blessed if your children are healthy and thank you for taking the time to read this.
Love, Justin & Jana

Hi All,
Well the time has come for Benji to receive his Stem Cell Therapy treatment. Saturday we are travelling to India and next Monday he will go to a private hospital which specialise in Brain & Spine cases as well as Stem Cell treatments, to start the treatment.
All going well we should see some improvements between 6 to 12 months after the treatment. It's been a long road to get to here and none of it would have been possible without your kind and generous support. So, we would like to thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts. As you will be able to imagine we are very nervous and excited at the same time so please wish him luck, pray for him. We will let you know how it went when we return.
Also, I'd like to mention the guys and girls who participated in the Sky diving with the Red Devils. Five of us went and all five completed a tandem skydive from 14.000ft (4267m) or just over 2.6 miles with a free fall of around 45 seconds at 130mph.
So a massive congratulations to Dean Ramsden, Carol Hanson, Cheryl Shaw-Peters, my mum Judy Cussans and myself. Also Thanks to Steve Handley from the Red Devils British Army Parachute Display Team for organising it.

Any money left over after the treatment and cost of the medical assistant alert dog will be donated to Benji's charity www.cchsuk.org
