Penelope DeGraw
Donation protected
Penelope DeGraw became blind at the age of 8 and has needed daily assistance and care since then. She is currently living with a dear friend who will soon enough have to pass along the role as caretaker. That means Penny will be going through the process of moving. For a blind person who thrives on knowing and memorizing their environment, a change such as moving is stressful and scary. Moving Penny's things and taking care of all her needs will be extremely expensive. There are many requirements to process. Donations provided will be used to set up requirements which help her to quickly memorize her environment and settle into a new place. Because Penny's blindness was caused by a botched surgury to treat a severe inner ear infection, balance is a problem and she is unable to walk without assistance. Funds will not only be used to take care of relocating/moving things she typically needs and already has, but also help with providing and setting up equipment necessary for her routine/functionality
requirements . (railings throughout , wheel chairs, special bathroom set-up etc.) She goes through life without complaining or asking "Why me?" and always has a smile to share. She is a true inspiration.
Please consider donating to help get her settled into a new routine with everything she needs so she and her pets will have a safe and useful place to soon call home.
No relocation date is set at this time. Once/if donations start to add up that will help determine timing options.
Some of the funds donated will be given to Christine who has selflessly been Penny's friend and caretaker for so many years. Through floods and other ups and downs, taking care of and giving shelter to abandoned animals, she gives and gives and gives. Hopefully enough money is raised to help Christine too. She deserves it!
If you live in Navarre, you may know Penny's 92 year old father and 3-time War Veteran, Mgysgt. Jay W. Degraw, USMC. a.k.a "The Gunny". He is proud of his youngest daughter and all the challenges she faces and conquers on a daily basis. He certainly would appreciate your consideration to support this cause.
Also, if you like homemade loom pot holders designed in the color/colors of your choice Penelope makes 4 for $10.00. (more than 2 colors option is extra) Leave message in comments if interested in purchasing.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Penny.
