In memory of Kate Steinle. I am Kate's big brother, Brad. And days ago the most loving, beautiful, and amazing person was taken from us...my best friend, my love, my sister. Kate had a special soul, a kind and giving heart, the most contagious laugh I have ever heard and smile I have ever seen. Kate loved to laugh, travel, spend time with friends, and most of all loved her family.

Please remember every day that love is all that matters. Loving friends, loving life, and most of all loving your family.

The day before Kate died she changed her Facebook cover photo with a saying that said "Whatever's good for your soul..........do that." Please always remember Kate and live your life by these words.

We are truly grateful for all of the love and support that we have received and the idea that so many people want to keep Kate's legacy alive.  We set up this page as a way to remember her and as a tribute to the amazing soul that she was.  Any funds collected will be used to help the family continue to move forward and to support the causes close to Kate's heart.  A portion of the funds will be used to support the charities listed below, but you can also make donations directly to them in Kate's honor.

We cannot thank you enough for the incredible amount of support that our family has received through the comments, messages and donations on this site. You have given us strength to make it through each day and helped us truly believe that what my Dad is calling the "Kate Effect" is real. Kate and her story have touched people from all around the world in so many ways. Tomorrow we are off to DC to speak out on behalf of Kate by testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. So many of you have expressed a strong desire to see change in this country so that this tragedy can never happen to someone else's daughter, sister, mother, or friend. We will be urging our country's leaders to do what's right and push for change. Wish us luck in DC! #TheKateEffect

Thank you all for the unbelievably kind words and contributions we have received so far. The outpouring of support for our family has been overwhelming and humbling.

We have also had an amazing amount of support on a site that was started by some of Kate's coworkers at GiveForward.com. Though there are two different sites, they are both working toward the same goal of raising funds to promote Kate's legacy and the causes that were close to her heart. Between the two sites, over 500 people have already reached out to remember Kate and support her funds.

I am more than ashamed of our federal representatives for not contacting your family, not one of them. The problem of illegal immigration in this country MUST be addressed and resolved. Listening to this loving family on O'Reilly and Megyn, they deserve some type of comment from one of our federal representatives, to explain WHY this happened and to express sympathy to this family. Unfortunately, my best friend was also killed my an illegal immigrant in 1992. My heart goes out to the entire family, and her friends around the world for such a tragic loss of such a beautiful and loving young lady. May God be with you. ♥

I worked with Kate for several years, and witnessed her interacting with new people all the time. She always made a quick friends and and left a lasting impression. She was never too stubborn to ask for help and never hesitant to offer her time. Such a sweet woman. When my son was born, she had a personalized shirt made for him, and beyond considerate, she had one made for our daughter as well so that she wouldn't feel left out. Kate will be sorely missed.

I was 43 yrs old when my wife and I lost our only child at the age of 18 in a 4 wheeler accident, I got to him he was still alive and after we lost him I drank for 10 yrs, lost my home and all material items, today my wife and I have been back together for 8 yrs, what impresses me is the spiritual faith of the parents and for me especially the father, I cried when watching them on the bill orielly show for two reasons, 1, the loss of a child and the pain that goes with it and secondly the pain I went thru to get spiritual today, if only I had the spirituality this family has,, I am so ashamed of our government in many ways but this is terrible, I will now donate to her site

Firstly, I want to say I wish all of Kate's family and friends strength and peace during this most dreadful time. I didn't know Kate, but until recently, I lived an hour east of San Francisco and know the area fairly well. Her unnecessary and horrendous death shocked and saddened me, and I felt compelled to write. I am a 'legal' immigrant, from England. I married my husband in 2012, after meeting him during his service in the US Air Force; he retired after 21 years. I travelled many miles to interviews , filled out numerous forms, attended medicals and paid to go through the immigration process; it was the right thing to do, it is the law. It makes me mad that the 'illegal' immigrants in the USA (and UK to be honest), receive benefits without contributing and some using the leniency of the country to come in and be a danger to society. I don't understand why Kate's killer was not detained and sent back to Mexico, especially with his past record. I hadn't heard of 'sanctuary cities' until this now, and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Well, that is an open invitation to the wrong / bad type of immigrants to come in! These 'cities' should no longer exist and all borders closed until we know who is here, who can stay and send home the undesirables. I wish you all the luck in the world in getting Kate's Law passed through government. This absolutely should never happen to any other family, and I am so saddened that it happened to yours. RIP Kate.

God bless the family of Kate Steinle and god rest her soul. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. Its nice to read about what a special and beautiful soul Kate is/was. I cried and cried learning about her and her senseless shooting just blocks from downtown. What happened to her is so senseless and upsetting and I'm outraged by her murder. Protecting our precious children and each other is everyone's responsibility and lots of work remains to be done in that regard. Its wrong for humans who has so much knowledge and so much power to live in societies with so much internal and external violence. I wish we had zero and/or near zero guns in this country. End the violence please. I am praying for more peacefulness for all people.

I live far away from Kate, and never met her. But of course, we have all now met her. And many of us are just like Kate, have a Kate for a daughter, friend, sister, colleague, etc. This did not have to happen and I hope that because of the law Jim and Liz are trying to pass, not one more American citizen or person in America dies at the hands of an illegal alien. This is tragic. We need to take control of our country in order to protect our citizens. God Bless the entire Steinle family and framily, I will pray for your continued healing. There are simply no words one can put to this senseless tragedy. Prayers to the family.

This event breaks my heart. This is an "All American Family." I could not even imagine this happening to my "baby girl" and her saying, “Help me daddy" while in my arms, OMG . Your family is very strong and deserve all the support you are receiving from so many people, it must be a wonderful feeling at this sad time to have so many prayers and thoughts for you all. Unfortunately our President or any of the executive branch don't feel it necessary to give you some kind of condolence, which is shameful. They can comment on criminals being killed but not your daughter! If anyone out there has not signed the petition for Kate's Law please do so now! This is the link to the petition. I'm sorry for the family's loss of their daughter, sister and friend Kate Steinle. The Illegal Immigration issue has negatively affected so many people in this country and Kate was an innocent sacrifice to this political problem. It's wonderful that people want to reach out and help the family with a gofundme program. I'm sure there are medical costs, funeral expenses, etc. that could be supported by the money raised here, if needed by the family. I hope some of the money will also be used to enact legislation that will bring REAL solutions to the Illegal Invader crisis now foisted upon us by the Government's failure to secure our borders and their INTENTION to allow just anyone into the U.S. to commit crimes here and take jobs. Like it or not, Kate has become a symbol of this struggle posthumously.

I did not know Kate, but illegal immigrants is an issue I have been speaking out against for some time. Her life didn't have to end this way. Everything I have read says she was a great person, and while good people die those in power who can change this allow it to happen and cover it up. I'm sure if she were still with us, she'd want to prevent the same from happening to others. It's time to protect people from senseless tragedy, which is the governments job. Prayers for her family, that they might find rest and comfort in this horrific time. Psalm 37:14-15 "The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken." Let's all band together as Americans, take control of our government again, and start getting all of America on board and back on the right path. Rest in peace Kate.

This is so sad... I didn't know Kate, but she looked like a wonderful person. My heart goes out to her family and friends who are missing her. I cannot comprehend how any city anywhere in our country should be a sanctuary city. This is ridiculous to me. Its a very sad day when our country allows this type of nonsense to go on. The law is the law!!! Any city and state! Im so sad about this.. especially when Fathers Day is right around the corner. My prayers and thoughts are with the Steinle's. Im hoping that the judge and jurors see the truth here and do the right thing.
