Medical and Vehicle Expenses
Life just keeps going pear-shaped, and I cannot seem to keep up.
I drive "Amish Taxi" for my day job, which is basically a self-employed Lyft or Uber for the Amish community I live near. And my vehicle is my primary means of making money. But I've recently had my van break down and is in need of some pricey front-end repairs. Pinion/ball-joint and tie road are totally broken, and I really need to get new shocks and struts as well as new tires. Between driving 500+ miles per week and the terrible, pot-hole riddled roads around here, I put a lot of wear and tear on any vehicle I drive and my van just hasn't been able to hold up.
Beyond that, I have medical issues I've been ignoring or putting off for a long time now because I simply can't afford to go to the doctor. But my health, both physical and mental, is getting worse and I really can't put it off much longer.
So with my van down, this has been limiting my taxi work. We have a backup vehicle, but it's not reliable and we're fighting to keep it on the road as well. And every day I don't drive is a day I'm losing money.
Which means I'm falling behind on my bills. I'm several months behind on electricity, and both my rent and car insurance are past due.
So I'm looking for help. I hate asking. I hate needing to ask. But I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. I can't keep up with it all. :(
