Compassion Counts.

A young life was recently changed in a
n instant in an auto pedestrian crash.

FROM A FIRST RESPONDER ON THE SCENE:

" I have been approached by many who witnessed the crash and felt compelled to help this hopeful young journalism student, who works part time.  I helped start this Go Fund Me hoping to help alleviate some stress from this wonderful family. The main provider is extremely prideful but realizes that she simply cannot do this alone.
There is no health insurance available and no insurance claim will be made, therefore, assistance is needed immediately and of the utmost importance.

Due to her extensive injuries, the family must move to a first floor apartment, and the medical bills are rapidly mounting.

The main family provider is facing health issues of their own and was recently released from the hospital. She is still recovering financially. "

FROM THE MAIN PROVIDER:

"Even though I was barely making ends meet taking care of my 2 boys by myself, when I found out that Rae had no where to go and no family support, without a second thought I took her in.

Because she had multiple breaks in her pelvis, she will have to learn to walk again. That process doesn't start until she gets out of IMU and into Inpatient rehabilitation. Inpatient Rehab will take a few weeks then she will start outpatient rehab and will need around the clock care while at home. She also had bleeding in her brain and multiple skull fractures. The neurologist said it could be an entire year before she's back to herself mentally. She also had a compound fracture/open wound in her left arm and many staples and stitches head to toe and extensive road rash on areas.

Unfortunately like others her age she couldn't get insurance on her own and did not qualify for the insurance at her job yet. Because I am not her legal guardian I could not add her to my insurance. With her multiple surgeries and time in ICU, the medical bills are already high. We will have to also pay for inpatient and outpatient rehab, medical supplies (walker, wheelchair etc), medication, follow up visits, lost wages, etc.

Because we live in the 2nd floor of our apartments we have been told by the doctor that we have to move and be able to prove that Rae had access to her home and all things in it, without stairs or steps, before she is released from inpatient rehabilitation. Due to me trying to catch up on finances from my own medical induced financial crisis by being taken off of work by my doctor for over 2 months without pay, I do not have the funds to pay a deposit, application fee, moving expenses, utility transfer expenses etc., for this required move. Being forced to move also will keep Rae from having to relive the accident every time we come home, since it happened right here."

Because I am responsible for Rae's care, well being, recovery and expenses I will be managing funds on her behalf.

Thank you for any donation, small or large. Every little bit helps. This page will be updated with Rae's progress and my hope is that we will surpass the goal.

Thank you.
