ACWP Medical Mission to Vietnam

Donation protected
My mom insisted my name start with the letter S. S for the shape of her homeland, Vietnam. A land that she and hundreds of thousands of others fled after the communist regime took over--a land that I feel intimately connected to every time I write my name.

I am descended from Vietnamese refugees who arrived in America with nothing but heavy hearts and empty pockets. And I am proud to be Vietnamese--to work hard, care deeply, and be humble, but we need to recognize that several countries haven’t developed as a result of poor education, a luxury that youth in America take for granted, even despise.

Inspired to combat these disadvantages and protect everyone’s right to education, I began working with a foundation called Aid to Children Without Parents, or ACWP that’s dedicated to providing education and medical care in developing countries, starting with Vietnam and Cambodia, in an effort give hope and solve the social injustices happening there.

This year I was reccommended to staff on a medical mission trip to Vietnam.
The mission is dedicating 6 days to medical service- 3 in Cam Au and 3 in Hue. We treat everybody from these poor undeveloped regions and give them the highest quality medical care possible as well as provide prenatal kits, teach public health and supply nutrition packages for the families to take home. At each of these locations we are also dedicating another day to visiting orphanages and giving hope.

Your donation will go towards buying medical supplies, shipping them to Viet Nam, providing orphans with a proper education, and nutritional supplements for those, especially children, suffering from sever malnutrition.

I believe that healing requires more than science and chemicals. True healing stems from compassion and an intimate understanding of the human psyche and the way it interacts with society. With this interpretation, we can apply the term healing to not only the body and mind, but also to fragmented societies and governments. This way healing can branch beyond the hospital and the clinics.

With your donation, I hope to build on this mission towards universal health and activism in youth to overcome the challenges that we as a part of humanity face worldwide; to fight apathy and encourage cultural exchange between our privileged, intellectual young people and the disadvantaged youth in the most rural parts of underdeveloped countries; to teach the rewards of pursuing an education and giving back to the community. I am here because love overcomes one’s misfortune.

Thank you so much for your time and your generosity,
ACWP
