Wheels for Reanne

Donation protected
My name is Erin Earley and I am writing this letter on behalf of my goddaughter, Reanne Hardy. She was born on November 7, 2003, at Brigham and Women’s in Boston with a heart defect and a chromosome disorder.

Reanne was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a cardiac anomaly that refers to a combination of four related defects that commonly occur together. These defects are ventricular septal defect, overriding aorta, pulmonary stenosis, and right ventricular hypertrophy. The combination of these cause her heart to pump at a higher pressure and higher pulse rate compared to those that do not have this diagnosis. To date, Reanne has had three open heart surgeries to help her heart pump at a slower rate with the use of a medical device implanted into the heart to create four chambers instead of the three chambers that she was born with.

Reanne was diagnosed with a chromosome disorder, known as DiGeorge Syndrome, an immunodeficiency disease. This chromosome disorder presents with abnormal migration and development of specific cells and tissues during fetal development. It can affect the thymus gland and T-lymphocyte production, which results in frequent infections. Reanne uses a tracheostomy tube, known as a trach, to assist her and make it easier for her to breathe on her own. She is on oxygen throughout the day to help ease the pressure of her heart pumping due to her heart defect. Reanne uses a feeding tube, known as gastrostomy-jejunostomy, and this is how she eats and receives her medication on a regular basis. Reanne uses a wheelchair because her bones are very weak and she has broken her bones on multiple occasions.

She currently does not have suitable transportation from her home to doctors’ appointments, school, or for spending time with her family. Reanne has two younger siblings and it’s hard to take Reanne along with them as she no longer fits into her car seat and Reanne is safer in her wheelchair. To help her get to different places and be able to do things with her family, she needs a vehicle that can carry her wheelchair.

Her family is in need of a wheelchair van to help accommodate Reanne’s needs and services to live a healthy life.

Any donation is welcomed and very much appreciated!!
