Our original goal was to be able to buy a small SUV by Christmas, but unfortunately we haven't met our goal yet! Our new goal is to raise another $2000, so that we can have some viable options available to us! We still need your help!

My 14-year-old son Nathaniel had spinal fusion surgery on Oct 7th to correct 3 different types of spinal misalignments.  This was his 7th orthopedic surgery in 6 years. Through it all, he has remained positive and smiley, and has never complained once. He is truly a champ and has battled through more in his short life than anyone should ever have to!!

While this 8.25-hour surgery went well and was very successful, due to the stretching of the spinal nerves (he went from 6'2" to 6'5") he has ended up with a spinal cord injury, which has resulted in Dysautonomia (his autonomic nervous system is not functioning normally). This has resulted in him not being able to be upright for long periods of time and has slowed down his expected recovery considerably. While he has made remarkable progress from where he was a few months ago, and is definitely improving, he still has a long way to go and we are working hard at it everyday. While we aren't quite there yet, we are striving toward him having his independence back and are celebrating all the small victories in the meantime.

**OUR ISSUE: LACK OF ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORTATION**

Nathaniel's rapid growth has caused him to no longer fit in our much-loved, but tiny, car. This is causing us great difficulty (and great expense) anytime we need to go anywhere, as we have to rely on taxis or renting a vehicle. Public transit is not an option at this time, due to medical reasons. Having a suitable vehicle would give us freedom to enjoy short trips out and about town, and allow the three of us to travel together as a family again, without the exhorbitant cost of taxi or vehicle rentals. We have mostly been homebound for the past 4 months, and we wish to change this as soon as possible!

As a single mom unable to work the past few years in order to care for him through his surgeries and other medical issues, buying a newer-to-us vehicle on my own is next to impossible at this time. Between hospital stays, specialist visits in Vancouver, and ongoing general medical expenses, we have incurred a large financial burden since his surgery. That's why we need your help!

We hope you will help make our wish come true!!

Thank you so much to those who have contributed so far! We sincerely thank and appreciate all of you!!
